Beyond the attraction: the infrastructure behind Anaheim's meetings appeal.

Beyond the attraction: the infrastructure behind Anaheim's meetings appeal. A Sponsored Message by Visit Anaheim Attendees make their way through the Anaheim Convention Center, the largest convention center on the West Coast. Anaheim may be synonymous with Disneyland Resort, but for meeting planners, the destination's appeal extends far beyond its most famous attraction. That's the premise behind Visit Anaheim's new white paper, Attraction Distraction?, which challenges the notion that major attractions compete for attendees' attention. Instead, it argues that destinations built to welcome millions of visitors offer planners an advantage: mature transportation networks, substantial hotel capacity, sophisticated safety infrastructure, and experienced hospitality partners. Anaheim makes a compelling case. At its center is the LEED-certified Anaheim Convention Center, the largest convention center on the West Coast with 1.8 million square feet of space. More than 23,000 hotel rooms are located within two miles, while four major convention hotels - the Westin Anaheim Resort, Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort, Hilton Anaheim and Anaheim Marriott - help create a highly walkable convention campus. Getting there is equally flexible, with four nearby airports - John Wayne Airport (SNA), Long Beach Airport (LGB), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), and Ontario International Airport (ONT) - providing extensive air access. That infrastructure supports more than 140 meetings and conventions annually and has helped Anaheim earn recognition as No. 3 among TSNN's Top 10 Trade Show Destinations. The destination is also investing in what comes next. Multi-billion-dollar developments, including OCVIBE's 100-acre mixed-use district and DisneylandForward, are poised to add new entertainment, dining, and experiential possibilities for groups. Through it all, Visit Anaheim serves as an extension of planners' teams, providing site selection, hotel sourcing, venue recommendations, promotional support, and on-the-ground coordination. The takeaway? In Anaheim, the attractions aren't a distraction. They're part of an established meetings ecosystem designed to move, host, and engage people at scale. 1.8m. square feet of flexible function space is on offer at the Anaheim Convention Center, giving planners room to think big. 4. nearby airports - John Wayne (SNA), Long Beach (LGB), Los Angeles International (LAX), and Ontario International (ONT) - give meeting attendees multiple options for reaching Anaheim. 140+. meetings and conventions come to Anaheim each year, giving the destination deep experience supporting events of varying sizes, formats, and complexities. OCVIBE adds Don Churros, MFK, Gelato Paradiso and more.

OCVIBE adds Don Churros, MFK, Gelato Paradiso and more. August 24, 2026 | Featured, Openings, Restaurant News Five new dining concepts join the growing culinary lineup at OCVIBE's 50,000-square-foot Anaheim market hall, set to open in early 2027. OC foodies have even more reason to get excited about OCVIBE. The massive new entertainment and dining district taking shape around Honda Center in Anaheim has announced five additional concepts for Katella Commons, its 50,000-square-foot, two-story market hall scheduled to open in early 2027. The latest additions include two familiar Orange County favorites Don Churros Gomez and MFK | Modern Filipino Kitchen along with Chef Guoming "Sam" Xin's Mojo and Pull & Roll, and longtime local favorite Gelato Paradiso. Together, the newcomers bring Mexican, Filipino, Northern Chinese and Italian culinary traditions to a market hall that is shaping up to be one of Orange County's most anticipated new dining destinations. "Dining and hospitality are going to be a defining part of the OCVIBE experience," said Anthony Olheiser, Senior Vice President, Hospitality at OCVIBE. "From Katella Commons and its chef-driven kitchens to Chef Roy Choi's Best Friend restaurant, and the bars and lounges, we're creating a new dining destination in Southern California where people will discover something new every time they visit." Don Churros Gomez brings a family tradition to OCVIBE. For brothers Jaime and Ricky Nuñez Gomez, joining Katella Commons represents another chapter in a family story that began more than half a century ago. Don Churros Gomez traces its roots to Yahualica, Jalisco, Mexico, where the brothers' grandfather affectionately known as "Don Churros" created the family's original churro recipe in 1969. The third-generation family business will bring its traditional thin-style churros and other authentic Mexican desserts to Katella Commons. "Don Churros is a story that began with our grandfather and has been carried forward through generations of our family," Jaime and Ricky said. "To see our family's churros become part of OCVIBE's larger culinary story, alongside so many talented chefs and cuisines, is an exciting next chapter for us." MFK | Modern Filipino Kitchen comes home to Anaheim. One of the most meaningful additions is also something of a homecoming. Chef Henry Pineda and his wife, Panda, are bringing back MFK | Modern Filipino Kitchen, the restaurant concept they originally opened in Anaheim in 2017. After losing the original MFK to a fire, the couple continued sharing Filipino cuisine through Lola's by MFK, their Filipino brunch concept. Nearly a decade after opening their first restaurant, MFK is now returning to Anaheim with a new menu created specifically for Katella Commons. The restaurant will remain rooted in Filipino flavors, family and the communal tradition of gathering around a meal while offering a modern interpretation of familiar dishes. "Panda and I opened our first MFK here in Anaheim almost 10 years ago, so getting the chance to bring it back home feels really special," Pineda said. "Community has always been a huge part of what we do, and being able to represent Filipino food and our culture at Katella Commons means a lot to us." Hand-Pulled noodles and dumplings from the "Noodle Man" Chef Guoming "Sam" Xin will introduce two concepts, Mojo and Pull & Roll, showcasing the techniques and flavors of Northern Chinese cuisine. Known as the "Noodle Man," Xin has more than two decades of culinary experience. His career began in Zhengzhou, China, where he opened Noodle City, before earning certification as a Senior Noodle Technician in Beijing. At Katella Commons, guests can expect hand-pulled noodles, dumplings and an immersive look at the craftsmanship behind traditional noodle making. Xin said he is looking forward to sharing his cuisine with Anaheim while exploring his craft in new ways within the market hall. Gelato Paradiso joins the lineup. Orange County gelato lovers will recognize another name on the list. Gelato Paradiso, founded in Newport Beach in 1999, is bringing more than 25 years of artisan gelato-making experience to OCVIBE. The company makes its gelato fresh daily in small batches, with approximately 80 percent of its ingredients imported directly from Italy and fresh fruits sourced locally and seasonally whenever possible. Expect Italian classics including Pistacchio, Stracciatella and Bacio, alongside rotating seasonal gelato and sorbetto flavors. "I've been making gelato with Gelato Paradiso since we started in 1999, and I'm proud that after all these years we still make it the same way fresh every day, with great Italian ingredients and a lot of care," said gelato artisan Pedro Quevedo. Katella Commons' Culinary Lineup Keeps Growing The latest announcement builds upon an already impressive collection of chefs and restaurateurs headed to Katella Commons. Previously announced concepts include chefs Danielle Duran Zecca and Alessandro Zecca of Amiga Amore; Alberto Bañuelos of Burritos La Palma; Alex "Pobre Diablo" Garcia and Elvia "La Bruja" Huerta of Evil Cooks; Kanate Ungkasrithongkul and Anita Lin of Manaao Thai Comfort Food; and Chef Zach Scherer of DARKROOM Restaurant and Wine Bar. Scherer is developing two new concepts for the project: OC Pizza Cult and Wanderfowl. Beyond Katella Commons, celebrated Los Angeles chef Roy Choi will bring his acclaimed Best Friend restaurant to OCVIBE. The mix of established names, cult favorites and emerging concepts appears very intentional creating a destination where visitors can move between different cuisines and culinary experiences rather than simply visiting another collection of restaurants. "Bringing Don Churros and MFK | Modern Filipino Kitchen to OCVIBE is especially meaningful because both businesses have deep roots in this community," said Nick Pacific, Vice President, Katella Commons. "At the same time, Mojo and Pull & Roll and Gelato Paradiso bring their own distinct culinary traditions and stories to the mix." A Major New Dining Destination for Orange County Katella Commons is part of the much larger OCVIBE development surrounding Honda Center, a privately funded $5 billion project backed by the Samueli Family. The 100-acre district is being designed as a walkable, year-round destination combining dining, entertainment, residences, offices, public spaces and cultural experiences. The first phase is expected to begin welcoming visitors in early 2027. A new 5,000-person concert hall is scheduled to open in early March, followed by Katella Commons, The Weave office building and the first phase of OCVIBE's public art program. Once OCVIBE is fully completed in 2033, plans call for more than 35 dining experiences, 20 acres of open space, three miles of connected walking trails, more than 2,500 residences, and three entertainment venues. For OC foodies, however, Katella Commons may be one of the most interesting pieces of the entire project. With everything from Filipino cooking and hand-pulled Chinese noodles to celebrated tacos, artisan gelato and churros made from a family recipe dating back to 1969, 2027 is already looking like a very good year to eat in Anaheim.

$5 billion 'OCVibe' complex in Anaheim is rapidly coming to life - here's an exclusive first look at the 5,000-capacity concert hall.

$5 billion 'OCVibe' complex in Anaheim is rapidly coming to life - here's an exclusive first look at the 5,000-capacity concert hall. $5 billion 'OCVibe' complex in Anaheim is rapidly coming to life - here's an exclusive first look at the 5,000-capacity concert hall ashley king july 28, 2026. Anaheim's $5 billion 'OCVibe' mega-project has reached a major construction milestone for its concert hall, with a March 2027 grand opening on the calendar. Now, agents, promoters, managers, and other concert execs are getting a first look at this brand-new Southern California venue. OCVibe's highly anticipated 5,000-capacity concert hall in Anaheim reached a major construction milestone this week with the first seat installations. To commemorate the occasion, the development welcomed media, music industry executives, and key partners to a first look. This was a hard hat-only tour, with safety glasses, work boots and a lengthy indemnification signature required before the tour began. Thankfully, nothing dropped from the rafters - though frankly the venue structure was mostly completed and felt completely safe. Orange County's newest live entertainment destination is slated for a March 2027 opening, with plenty of mixed-use dining, shopping, and recreational uses on tap. According to backers and builders behind the project, OCVibe is intended to offer another Southern California option for smaller events, especially for those seeking a quieter spot between San Diego and Los Angeles. That was the same line of thinking behind the just-constructed Long Beach Amphitheater, christened by local legend Snoop Dogg himself. It's all part of a booming Southern California concert scene spurring huge venue investments - not in the millions, but in the billions of dollars. Back in Anaheim, the OCVibe concert hall is literally in the shadow of the arena-sized Honda Center, depending on the time of day (and yes, there's plenty of sun in these parts). But for events and artists that can't fill arenas, OCVibe offers a downsized complement according to execs chatting with DMN. "The concert hall represents an opportunity to strengthen Orange County's role in the entertainment landscape," said Eric Bresler, Senior Vice President of Entertainment for OCVibe. "By creating a purpose-built venue for live music within the larger OCVibe district, we're building an ecosystem that supports artists, attracts more performances, and continues to establish Anaheim as a standalone market for live entertainment." The limited preview tour showcased significant construction progress throughout the venue. That included the installation of the first permanent seating areas, a number of backstage artist spaces, and the installation of some unique signature touches. "The preview offered a glimpse into the level of care and planning behind every aspect of the concert hall," said Tina Suca, Senior Vice President of Venue Operations for OCVibe. "While construction continues, you can already see how the design, technology, and guest experience are coming together to create a venue unlike anything else in Orange County." Designed by Populous - whose portfolio includes Sphere in Las Vegas, Yankee Stadium, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - the concert hall will expand OCVibe's venue ecosystem. This purpose-built venue for live entertainment complements the aforementioned Honda Center, as well as a rehashed Golden Bear and a vast expanse of public gathering spaces. "The OCVibe concert hall represents a new generation of live entertainment venues designed to create an exceptional experience for audiences and artists alike," said Julie Rinaldi, Principal at Populous. "Part of the broader OCVibe district, the concert hall seamlessly blends music, public space, and community to create a destination that will evolve with Anaheim for decades." Beyond concerts and live performances, the venue has been designed to accommodate a wide range of live experiences. This includes television productions, award shows, comedy performances, corporate events, and community gatherings. The multi-use space will add a new level of flexibility to Orange County's entertainment landscape. "The concert hall adds an entirely new dimension to OCVibe's venue ecosystem," said Katie Pederson, Vice President of Special Events for OCVibe. "Its adaptable design allows us to host everything from live entertainment to film and television productions, award shows, galas, and corporate gatherings, while complementing our existing venues to create a destination capable of bringing a wide range of experiences to life." Led by OCVibe's entertainment and venue operations teams, Digital Music News and other attendees toured the future artist suites, backstage areas, the main auditorium, the Gallagher Club, and Stretto Cafe. DMN was also given a firsthand and detailed view of how construction continues to advance throughout the venue. A favorite stop during the tour was the massive Arbutus 'Marina' tree planted in the concert hall's indoor/outdoor artist lounge. Estimated at 17 to 20 years old, the tree had been carefully nurtured for years before reaching its permanent home within the district, where it had to be craned into place. "When the OCVibe design team shared their vision for incorporating this incredible feature into the concert hall, we saw an opportunity to help bring something truly unique to life. The incorporation of the Arbutus 'Marina' tree into the artist area reflects OCVibe's broader commitment to creating a landscape that feels authentic to the destination and connected to the experience's guests and artists will have throughout the district," shared Jim Tracy, CEO of Park West, OCVibe's landscape operations partner. The Early November lead singer Ace Enders, performing after the OCVibe construction walkthrough (Photo Credit: OCVibe) Following the hard-hat tour, guests gathered at ARTIC for an immersive presentation showcasing the broader OCVibe district. That presentation highlighted the complex's perks, including a public arts program, entertainment venues, chef-driven dining destinations, and future mixed-use neighborhoods. The afternoon concluded with a surprise acoustic performance by Ace Enders of The Early November, offering attendees a preview of the live music experiences the venue is being built to deliver. More specifically, the March 2027 'phase one' will include the concert hall as well as Katella Commons, OCVibe's 50,000-square-foot chef-driven market hall, and The Weave, Orange County's first mass timber mixed-use office building.

Ocvibe development taps Daktronics for immersive digital displays

Ocvibe development taps Daktronics for immersive digital displays. Image: OCVIBE/Daktronics March 13, 2026 Ocvibe, a 100-acre mixed-use development transforming the area surrounding Honda Center in California, is partnering with Daktronics, which provides immersive digital displays and experiential environments, to install a digital display system able to power large-scale, high-impact digital moments across the Ocvibe campus. Centered around 20,000 square feet of LED digital displays in the district's Urban Park, the technology package will create an immersive environment that elevates the overall guest experience, according to a press release. The partnership is a $25 million investment in Daktronics technology. "From the beginning, we've been intentional about how technology helps shape the Ocvibe experience," Graham Siderius, senior vice president and chief partnerships officer at Ocvibe, said in the release. "These digital displays aren't just screens, they're part of the fabric of the district, designed to guide guests, spark discovery, and create shared moments in real time. By integrating this technology at the ground level, we're elevating the guest experience in a way that feels seamless, dynamic, and uniquely Orange County." Ocvibe's partnership with Daktronics will ensure the digital surfaces throughout the district will be dynamic, responsive touch points that guide, inform, and inspire guests in a creative way each time they visit. "The displays will provide amazing opportunities to engage with the public," Robin Hall, Daktronics live events regional sales manager, said in the release. "Integrating this technology from the beginning unlocks near unlimited potential to engage audiences and create memorable experiences that keep people coming back again and again." Daktronics will deploy a cohesive network of 20,000 square feet of digital displays across key public spaces, including parking and arrival zones, plazas and parks, Honda Center, and Katella Commons - the district's market hall. The coordinated system will deliver real-time updates and immersive visuals, enabling a mix of independent and synchronized content across the neighborhood, while allowing for real-time programming. Highlights of the system include: * A media screen located within the Urban Park measuring 36-feet-high by 126-feet-wide featuring a 8-millimeter pixel spacing. * A 32.5-foot-high by 126-foot-wide marquee spanning the Katella and Cerritos parking garages featuring a 10-millimeter pixel spacing. * More than 400 additional digital displays throughout Ocvibe's parking garages. The Ocvibe partnership with Daktronics builds upon a 20-plus year partnership the firm has had with Honda Center, home of the NHL's Anaheim Ducks. Inside the arena, Daktronics installed a high-definition center-hung display system used at Ducks games, concerts, and other sporting events. Most recently, Honda Center refreshed its ribbon displays and arena end displays in 2022.
