OHM Advisors names Kelly Jackson VP of Human Resources. May 12, 2026 LIVONIA, Mich. - Architecture, engineering and planning firm OHM Advisors has promoted longtime Human Resources Director Kelly Jackson as the company's first vice president of human resources. "People are the foundation of any successful business, and over the last three decades, Kelly has been crucial in building and expanding that foundation," said OHM President Jon Kramer. "Since the firm's inception, we have grown from fewer than 100 people working in one building to nearly 1,000 employees across eight states. Over the past 30+ years, Kelly has been instrumental in shaping and supporting the continuity of our company's culture." As vice president of human resources, Jackson will focus on talent strategy, ensuring that the OHM's workforce development aligns with its long-term vision and maintains its competitive edge. The move will also allow OHM's human resources team to foster the growth of young leaders and enhance succession planning. "OHM exists to help communities solve problems and make places better for people," Jackson said. "The human resources team finds innovative ways to hire the right people, integrate them into a collaborative culture, nurture their strengths and talents and invest in their professional growth." Jackson experienced that kind of support in her own career. When she joined OHM, she worked for the company's accounting team, which handled issues such as payroll and benefits. She pitched the idea of building a full-fledged human resources department to OHM's leadership team - and they gave her the green light to create the department from the ground up. Over the years, Jackson has helped the company navigate major regulatory changes, expand during the Great Recession and manage workplace disruptions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Jackson holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources from Cleary University. In 2022, she was recognized by Crain's Detroit Business with an "Excellence in Human Resources" award. Under Jackson's leadership, OHM Advisors has been recognized with workplace awards from Gallup, Zweig Group, Crain's Detroit Business, Columbus CEO, and many other organizations. Jackson has served on numerous boards, including the Michigan Business and Professional Association.
OHM Advisors receives 2026 ACEC-MI Large Member Firm of the Year award. We are proud to announce that OHM Advisors has been named the 2026 Large Member Firm of the Year at the Fillmore Detroit by the Michigan Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-MI). This marks the fifth time the firm has received this prestigious award. Announced on March 7th at the annual ACEC-MI Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards Gala, this award recognizes one large and one small member firm for their leadership contributions to the design consulting industry, Michigan's communities, and the Michigan Chapter of ACEC in the past two years. "It has been OHM's privilege to serve as a member firm of ACEC's for decades," said Jon Kramer, President, OHM Advisors. "By joining forces, we are able to advance the engineering profession through legislative advocacy and by upholding professional standards that strengthen the industry" It has been OHM's privilege to serve as a member firm of ACEC's for decades. By joining forces, we are able to advance the engineering profession through legislative advocacy and by upholding professional standards that strengthen the industry. - Jon Kramer, OHM Advisors President A high percentage of OHM Advisors employees in Michigan and beyond give significant time and talent to professional organizations, schools, and charities, as well as to firm-supported programs that offer career guidance, mentoring, and scholarships to engineering-focused students. To support and provide greater flexibility to employees who want to share their technical expertise with communities in need, OHM Advisors introduced the Volunteer Service Leave Program in 2023. Through this program, team members have utilized additional time off to provide time and technical assistance to combat water scarcity, promote water reuse, and improve water accessibility in Bolivia; enhance deeply eroded trails in Colorado; construct school structures in Tanzania; survey and layout campsites for a music scholarship and education non-profit organization; and manage a poling location for a special election in Ohio to help make voting easy and accessible to all; and more. Also, through OHM's Scholarship Program, we award $4,000 scholarships to college-bound or enrolled students pursuing STEM education. Since its inception, the program has provided more than $100,000 in scholarships. In the last two years, we've helped 25 students advance their education. Additionally, we employed high school and college students in our Internship Program, exposing them to experiences matching their individual career goals in areas such as CADD, Engineering, and GIS. "I am proud of - and inspired by - the many examples of ways the OHM team lives our mission of Advancing Communities," said Kramer. "Whether sharing new ways of using technology with our industry peers, teaching high school students about GIS career pathways, supporting ACEC as new member firm mentors, or volunteering to clean up highways and local parks, our team is consistently helping communities solve problems and making places better for people - and that's what we're all about." Watch the video below to hear more about what drives OHM Advisors, what we think it takes for communities to advance, and what this award and our partnership with ACEC means to us. Engineering & Surveying Engineering Awards During the awards gala, ACEC-MI also honored outstanding projects and industry leaders and recognized the next generation of engineering talent. OHM Advisors and the City of Troy received a Merit Award for transforming an underused site in Troy's civic district. OHM Advisors announces promotion of Kelly Jackson to Vice President of Human Resources. Jackson brings more than 30 years of experience to the role. OHM Advisors has promoted longtime team member Kelly Jackson to Vice President of Human Resources. As Vice President, Kelly will align our talent strategy with our long-term vision and maintain the firm's value proposition across a multi-state workforce. Kelly has been instrumental in scaling operations as OHM Advisors has grown from a single office to more than 800 professionals in numerous states. She has built robust benefit programs, championed workplace culture initiatives, developed training programs for team members at all levels, and provided leadership coaching and mentoring to many. In 2022, Kelly was honored by Crain's Detroit Business with an "Excellence in HR" award. "Under Kelly's leadership, OHM has retained and recruited exceptional talent - more than 185 individuals in the past year," said Jon Kramer, President of OHM Advisors. "We know she will be effective in managing the firm's evolving staffing needs and supporting the firm's long-term vision for growth." More about Kelly: We asked Kelly about her new role, what she's learned along the way, and her advice for professionals at any stage: Looking ahead, what opportunities are you most excited about? As OHM Advisors continues to grow and evolve, I'm looking forward to contributing to the trajectory of the firm in an even more impactful way. As I get closer to the latter portion of my career, I'm thinking more about my legacy and how I can give back. I'm excited about the opportunities my new role will create for my immediate team to spread their wings and develop their own paths in support of the firm's growth. I also want to continue to do my part to make OHM Advisors a place where employees feel engaged, recognized, and empowered to be their authentic selves and to contribute diverse perspectives. What have you learned about leadership over the past three decades? You can't do it all! Hire people who complement you, and work to understand and utilize their strengths. What advice would you offer to someone navigating their career journey? I tell everyone that it is important to find someone who will support and advocate for them, both inside and outside of their organization. Many people have helped me throughout my career - and that's been a game changer. But I have also consistently advocated for myself. I don't let self-imposed fears, which we all have, stop me from trying something new or challenging. When things haven't worked out, I've tried not to be too hard on myself, and I tell others to give themselves some grace. I think this is important for people who may not have always seen a clear path to the leadership table to remember. Congratulations to Kelly on her significant achievement!
