OXMAN designs and builds products, architecture, and molecular systems by blending computational design, materials science, robotics, biology, and ecological engineering. It follows Material Ecology, treating man-made objects as part of the environment and prioritizing growth and decay over traditional assembly and disposal. The firm works on product design, architectural design, and molecular design, collaborating with partners to apply nature-inspired principles, from biodegradable products like the O-zero shoe to carbon-sequestering buildings. Its cross-disciplinary, bio-informed workflow aims at ecological restoration and circular economy, funded by founder Neri Oxman and partners, with the goal of reducing waste, capturing carbon, and healing ecosystems.
