Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope has completed a comprehensive refinancing that provides $300 million of new capital, reduces annual cash interest expense by approximately $50 million, and extends debt maturities to 2031. The North American manufacturer, fabricator and distributor of architectural hardware, glass and glazing systems completed the transaction with support from the majority of its lenders and KPS Capital Partners. KPS purchased more than 90% of OBE's unsecured debt earlier this year, representing over $540 million in aggregate face value. As part of the refinancing, participating lenders provided a $300 million new-money, first-out term loan and a $288 million first-out revolving credit facility, both maturing in June 2031. KPS also exchanged more than $540 million of unsecured notes for third-out term loans bearing payment-in-kind interest, further reducing OBE's current cash interest obligations.
Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope completes refinancing, strengthening liquidity and supporting long-term growth. Transaction provides $300 million of new capital, reduces annual cash interest expense by approximately $50 million and extends debt maturities to 2031 DALLAS-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, Inc. ("OBE"), a North American manufacturer, fabricator and distributor of architectural hardware, glass and glazing systems, today announced the completion of a comprehensive refinancing that provides OBE with $300 million of new capital, reduces its annual cash interest expense by approximately $50 million and extends its debt maturities to 2031. The transaction strengthens OBE's financial position and provides additional resources to invest in the business and support its customers, suppliers and employees. The refinancing was completed with the support of the overwhelming majority of OBE's lenders and KPS Capital Partners ("KPS"), which earlier this year purchased more than 90% of OBE's unsecured debt, representing more than $540 million in aggregate face value. "This transaction is an important milestone for OBE, providing significant additional financial resources to invest in our business and continue delivering for our customers, suppliers and employees," said Mark Adamson, Chief Executive Officer of OBE. "We appreciate the continued support of our lenders and KPS as we work to make OBE the preferred one-stop shop for glass, architectural metals, architectural hardware and glazing supplies." "KPS has tremendous conviction in OBE and its future," said Raquel Palmer, Managing Partner of KPS and Chair of OBE's Board of Directors. "We believe in the fundamental strength of the business and in Mark and his team, and our investment reflects that confidence." As part of the transaction, participating lenders provided OBE with a $300 million new-money, first-out term loan and a $288 million first-out revolving credit facility. The new term loans and revolving credit facility mature in June 2031. KPS also exchanged more than $540 million of unsecured notes for third-out term loans bearing payment-in-kind interest, further reducing OBE's current cash interest obligations and providing additional cash flow that can be directed toward investments in the business. Statements regarding the expected benefits of the transaction reflect current expectations and are subject to risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from those anticipated. Vitro glazing solutions transform Harvard's Gund Hall with major energy and comfort improvements. June 3, 2026 Harvard University's Graduate School of Design has completed a significant façade modernization of Gund Hall, leveraging advanced glazing technologies from Vitro Architectural Glass to dramatically improve thermal performance, occupant comfort, and daylight quality while preserving the building's iconic architectural identity. Originally designed in 1972, the concrete modernist landmark is known for its stepped studio terraces, expansive curtain walls, and clerestory glazing, but decades of operation exposed challenges related to air infiltration, water penetration, glare, and energy efficiency. The renovation team, led by Bruner / Cott Architects in collaboration with Lam Partners, Simpson Gumpertz & Heger, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, A&A Window Products, and Shawmut Design & Construction, developed façade-specific glazing strategies tailored to the building's varying solar exposures. Rather than applying a uniform solution, performance targets were established for each elevation, balancing visible light transmittance, solar heat gain control, and visual clarity. A cornerstone of the project was the implementation of Vitro's VacuMax(TM) Vacuum Insulating Glass (VIG) on the north and south elevations. To meet Massachusetts stretch energy code requirements demanding a façade U-value of 0.25, the design team sought an alternative to bulky triple glazing that would have altered the building's original appearance. The resulting hybrid VIG assembly delivered an overall system U-value of 0.19, while achieving an exceptional center-of-glass U-value of 0.06, approximately four times the thermal performance of conventional double glazing. The south elevation incorporates Solarban(R) R100 glass, Solargray(R) glass, Acuity(R) low-iron glass, warm-edge spacers, and argon-filled insulating units to reduce glare while maintaining accurate color rendering and achieving an interior solar heat gain coefficient of 0.21. On the north and east façades, Solarban(R) 90 Acuity(R) glass was selected to replicate the clarity of the original plate glass while minimizing unwanted color shifts and reducing solar heat gain. Across 15,475 square feet of newly glazed area replacing 1,617 original units, the upgraded enclosure is projected to reduce building energy use intensity by 22.2% and utility costs by 19.1%, while significantly enhancing daylight autonomy and studio comfort throughout Gund Hall. Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope launches Reliance-TC SS high-thermal curtain wall system. June 2, 2026 Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope (OBE) has expanded its curtain wall portfolio with the introduction of the Reliance-TC SS (Thermal Control Screw Spline), a new high-performance curtain wall system engineered to meet increasingly stringent energy-efficiency requirements while maintaining fabrication simplicity and design flexibility. Developed from OBE's established Reliance platform, the Reliance-TC SS is specifically designed for projects in IECC Climate Zones 4 through 8, as well as jurisdictions adopting advanced stretch energy codes. The system delivers U-factors as low as 0.19 when paired with 1-inch thin triple insulating glass units (IGUs), enabling architects and specifiers to achieve demanding thermal targets without increasing the overall curtain wall depth. A key advantage of the system is its screw-spline construction, which supports familiar fabrication and installation practices while reducing complexity for glazing contractors. The curtain wall accommodates both standard 1-inch insulating glass and high-performance thin triple IGUs, allowing project teams to scale thermal performance within the same framing platform. Reliance-TC SS is available in 6-inch and 7[1/4]-inch system depths and features a narrow 2[1/2]-inch sightline. Thermal performance is achieved through the use of 27 mm and 30 mm thermal struts combined with an EPDM isolator. The system also offers polyamide and aluminium pressure plate options, inside- and outside-glazed configurations, and multiple glazing methods including dry, zone and field glazing. Additional features include twin-span construction with splice sleeves, low-profile corner mullions and support for Red List Free project goals. By combining advanced thermal technology with efficient fabrication methods, Reliance-TC SS provides a practical solution for high-performance building envelopes in today's evolving construction market.
