Wall Street analysts have issued bearish price targets for several stocks, signalling serious concerns about their prospects. StockStory conducted independent analysis to identify buying opportunities and companies to avoid. The firm recommends avoiding Envista Holdings, a global dental products company. Its revenue grew just 3.4% annually over five years, whilst earnings per share fell 7% annually. Negative returns on capital suggest growth strategies have backfired. StockStory also advises caution on OneMain Holdings, which provides personal loans to nonprime consumers. Despite 5.5% annual revenue growth over five years, earnings per share declined 9.3% annually. The firm identifies Oscar Health, a technology-focused health insurance company founded in 2012, as a potential buying opportunity despite Wall Street's pessimism.
OneMain Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of OneMain Holdings, has entered into an underwriting agreement to issue $600 million of 7.125% senior notes due 2034. The transaction is being underwritten by Barclays Capital and BMO Capital Markets. The offering is expected to close on 20 August 2026, subject to customary conditions. Net proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes, including potential debt repurchases or repayment. OneMain Holdings operates in the consumer finance industry, providing personal loans and financial services to non-prime consumers. The underwriters and their affiliates maintain existing investment banking and financing relationships with OneMain, including participation in previous asset-backed note offerings and lending arrangements.
OneMain Financial is selling $750 million in notes through its latest securitisation, backed by non-revolving personal loans primarily secured by automobiles and other titled personal property such as boats and trailers. The asset-backed securities will be offered through four tranches of class A, B, C and D notes, with initial credit enhancement levels of 32.75%, 27.85%, 21.75% and 10.45% respectively. All notes have a legal final maturity date of 14 January 2038.
OneMain Holdings reported second-quarter revenue of $1.29 billion, beating analyst expectations by 1.4% and marking 6.9% year-on-year growth. The consumer finance company's adjusted earnings per share of $1.31 exceeded consensus estimates by 3.9%. CEO Douglas Shulman attributed the performance to product innovation in auto finance and credit cards, alongside improving delinquency trends. Originations rose 10% year-on-year, whilst customer accounts surpassed 4 million—a 14% increase driven by newer product offerings. The company maintained its full-year managed receivables growth guidance of 6% to 9%. Management emphasised ongoing investments in technology, data analytics, and controlled AI deployment to enhance underwriting and operational efficiency. Auto finance originations grew 19%, whilst the BrightWay credit card portfolio showed strong account growth with operating costs per account declining approximately 25% year-on-year.
