Overview

One Project builds and funds a new kind of economy focused on people and planet over profits. It operates as a nonprofit social venture that develops digital infrastructure and funds collaborative projects to advance economic democracy. Its key product is Common, a digital platform that connects people, organizations, and resources so communities can raise funding and collectively decide how to allocate it based on shared values. The organization also conducts research, storytelling, and technology development, and acts as a grantmaking foundation that supports over 60 organizations with about $32 million in grants to date. One Project works with a remote, global team and a network of communities, movements, and experts to co-create alternative economic systems. Its goal is to demonstrate that a just, sustainable, and democratic economy is achievable and scalable through participatory funding, community-controlled funds, and systemic change.
