OpenBet proves high reliability with $3B wagered during World Cup 2026.

OpenBet proves high reliability with $3B wagered during World Cup 2026. July 22, 2026 Betting and gaming technology provider OpenBet has reported over 175 million bets processed and $3 billion wagered across its global platform customers during a record-breaking World Cup 2026, making it the biggest-ever betting event for OpenBet and proving highly reliable at scale during times of peak activity. England's run to the semi-finals drove standout volumes across OpenBet's UK-facing customers. The Norway quarter-final drew almost 5 million pre-match bets, with the game against Argentina close behind at 4.65 million. Player markets reshape how fans bet. OpenBet's newly expanded BetBuilder and Player Prop offering drove a significant proportion of growth over the course of the tournament. New 'either player to score' and 'player to be fouled' markets were offered for the first time, and 23 million Player Prop bets were processed across the tournament, up 130% on Qatar 2022. The final contested by Spain and Argentina drew 831,000 BetBuilder bets, 39% more than the showpiece four years ago. The tournament revealed a marked shift in how fans construct their bets. Ten of the 20 most repeated bet combinations included a Player Goals or Player Stats selection, compared with four in 2022, none of which contained player stats. Selections on player stats markets grew almost fivefold on the last World Cup. In-play betting also grew as the tournament progressed, rising to around one bet in six through the knockout rounds, with live bets carrying significantly higher average stakes than pre-match. Alongside its content offering, OpenBet provided Managed Trading Services to leading platform customers worldwide, creating odds, supplying trading content, and managing risk and liability throughout the tournament. Delivering at scale. The tournament's reach extended beyond the sportsbook platform. OpenBet Locator(TM) processed more than 200 million location checks during the World Cup across regulated US states. Solidifying its reputation as a premier partner for Tier 1 operators globally, OpenBet kept operators trading with zero platform outages from the opening match to the final, with capacity scaled through the tournament to stay ahead of demand. Nikos Konstakis, President at OpenBet, said: "A World Cup is one of the defining moments for our industry, and this was the largest betting event our platform has ever supported. What stands out beyond the numbers is the extent to which player behaviour continues to evolve. Fans are no longer simply backing a result, they are building their own narrative around individual players, and our expanded BetBuilder and Player Prop offering met that demand while delivering the high-margin products operators need." "Sustained peak load across a six-week tournament is different to managing a single event, and our platform handled it extremely well. The highest-profile operators trust us with the events that matter most, and this was the largest of them all." [Nikos Konstakis].
