WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) (NYSE: CC), a global chemistry company with leading market positions in Titanium Technologies, Thermal Specialized Solutions, and Advanced Performance Materials, today announced its strategic decision to cease sales of Freon™ 404A (R-404A) and Freon™ 507 (R-507) in the United States. Chemours—the inventors of Freon™ and Opteon™ refrigerant portfolios —will discontinue U.S. sales of these select Freon™ products as of May 2, 2024, in support of regulatory phasedown requirements. The strategy aligns with regulatory phasedowns of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), outlined under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act and Canada’s Ozone-depleting Substances and Halocarbon Alternatives Regulations (ODSHAR). "This decision supports our commitment to creating a better world through the power of our chemistry, advancing decarbonization, circularity, and socioeconomic value through greener solutions industrywide,” said Doug Westerhoff, Americas Sales Director of Thermal Specialized Solutions at Chemours. "The U.S
WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) (NYSE: CC), a global chemistry company with leading market positions in Titanium Technologies, Thermal & Specialized Solutions, and Advanced Performance Materials, today announced its roadmap for next-generation thermal management solutions at the 2023 AHR Expo. This three-horizon plan includes commercial product adoption, new blend development collaboration, and next-generation product development—all of which are currently underway.Horizon one, commercial product adoption, includes continuing the company’s commitment to supporting the adoption of its current product offerings including its Opteon™ XL and XP series of zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, which offer the optimal balance of performance, sustainability, cost, and are classified as low-flammability (A2L) refrigerants. Horizon two is focused on collaborations with customers to identify the most promising development blends with lower-GWPs to meet the coming phase downs and to support Chemours’ already robust portfolio of ultra-low GWP products such as Opteon™ YF.Building upon the performance, safety, and sustainability profile of its Opteon™ portfolio, horizon three is the investment in the development of next-generation thermal management solutions. Chemours expects this novel fluorinated technology to balance critical properties from GWP to flammability to degradation profile and performance to meet customer needs and the evolving regulatory landscape. It is the company’s intention to have these innovative and sustainable solutions available for customer qualification in 2025.“ We are committed to fluorine chemistry and its power to enable world-changing technologies, and we believe that continued innovation will allow us to meet our customers’ need to create highly-efficient systems that consume less energy,” said Alisha Bellezza, President of Thermal & Specialized Solutions at Chemours. “ We have always innovated in this space, first with Freon™ and more recently, we invented Opteon™ YF, a game-changing refrigerant solution that accelerates global sustainability initiatives
WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) (NYSE: CC), a global chemistry company with leading market positions in Titanium Technologies, Thermal & Specialized Solutions, and Advanced Performance Materials, began taking orders from North American customers in December for its Opteon™ XL41 (R-454B) hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) refrigerant, which the company will start fulfilling by the end of Q1 2023. Opteon™ XL41 is an R-410A replacement in new air conditioning and heat pump applications, offering zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and an approximate 78% reduction in global warming potential (GWP) when compared to R-410A (AR4 GWP). One of the latest next-generation solutions in the Chemours Opteon™ portfolio, in addition to being the lowest GWP replacement for R-410A alternatives on the market today, Opteon™ XL41 offers the optimal balance of performance, sustainability, and cost, and is classified as a low-flammability (A2L) refrigerant. The availability of Opteon™ XL41 refrigerant comes approximately one year ahead of the next major scheduled step-down outlined in the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act. Starting January 1, 2024, regulations will require an additional 30% reduction in hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) production and consumption. Amidst this regulatory landscape, Opteon™ XL41 will offer customers product longevity.“ As the industry prepares for the next HFC phasedown, Chemours is fully committed to supporting a diverse group of HVACR applications in making a successful transition to sustainable refrigeration solutions,” said Alisha Bellezza, President of Thermal & Specialized Solutions at Chemours. “ We are excited that so many of the major players in equipment manufacturing recognize the environmental and performance efficacy of Opteon™ XL41

WILMINGTON, Del. & MORRIS PLAINS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Chemours Company (“Chemours”) (NYSE: CC), and Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON), today announced the launch of a new pilot program to enable qualified companies to recycle and reclaim R-448A, also known as Honeywell Solstice® N40, and R-449A, also known as Opteon™ XP40, patented HFO refrigerant blends in the European Union and the United Kingdom. In recent years, global regulatory drivers and the increasing need for a circular economy have spurred interest in activities such as recycling and reclamation of refrigerants. Chemours and Honeywell are uniquely positioned to support these activities and license qualified companies to recycle and reclaim patented fluorochemical refrigerants. The old refrigerant is cleaned, returned to specification and used for service of refrigeration systems that need it. To ensure the integrity of these operations and the safety and quality of the resulting R-448A and R-449A, important criteria have been established for potential program participants including audit requirements and strict record-keeping
