Ostium Labs

Ostium Labs

Decentralized exchange for real-world assets trading

Overview

Ostium Protocol is a decentralized perpetuals exchange on Arbitrum that gives traders on-chain leveraged exposure to real-world assets without tokenizing them. It uses synthetic perpetual contracts that track prices of assets like gold, oil, copper, and forex via oracle feeds. The platform is non-custodial and permissionless with a pool-based liquidity model where liquidity providers take the other side of trades. The goal is to bridge traditional finance and DeFi by offering a scalable, transparent venue for leveraged RWAs, supported by mainnet deployment and ongoing audits.

Ostium launches decentralised execution layer with Jump as hedging partner after processing $50B volume

Ostium Labs has launched a decentralised execution layer for global markets, with Jump and other institutional participants serving as hedging partners. The protocol has processed over $50 billion in cumulative volume and generated nearly $35 million in revenue across 26,000 traders. The platform enables self-custodial trading of traditional assets including stocks, commodities, indices and foreign exchange through perpetuals. Unlike previous decentralised platforms that rebuild liquidity for each asset, Ostium leverages pricing from traditional market venues through institutional partners. The new architecture separates trade settlement from directional exposure hedging, with a capital pool programmatically hedging net exposures offchain through institutional partners. This allows open interest to scale dynamically based on underlying market depth. Ostium has raised over $27 million from General Catalyst and Jump Crypto.

Ostium taps QUODD market data for institutional-grade onchain perpetual swaps trading

Ostium, a perpetual swaps platform for real-world assets, is using QUODD's real-time market data to power its oracle infrastructure, providing pricing for equities, foreign exchange and commodities. The partnership enables institutional-grade execution for onchain trading whilst maintaining tight spreads and reduced slippage. Unlike traditional decentralised finance platforms that rebuild liquidity onchain, Ostium sources pricing directly from underlying traditional markets. QUODD's real-time data provides reliable pricing, bid-ask spreads and market depth across global assets, supporting Ostium's expansion into US equities, FX pairs and commodities. The platform targets non-US traders familiar with contracts for difference and traditional brokerages, offering onchain access to global markets. Ostium, founded by Harvard and Bridgewater alumni, is backed by General Catalyst, Jump Crypto and Coinbase Ventures.

Harvard grads raise $20M for Ostium, a crypto derivatives platform valued at $250M

Ostium, a decentralised exchange founded by two Harvard graduates, has raised $20 million in a Series A round led by General Catalyst and Jump Trading's crypto arm Kaledora. The round valued the startup at approximately $250 million, according to a source familiar with the matter. The platform allows users to trade perpetual futures on real-world assets including stocks, metals, oil and cryptocurrencies. Unlike traditional futures, these derivatives don't expire on a set date, provided traders maintain margin requirements. Coinbase Ventures and crypto market makers Wintermute and GSR also participated in the round. Ostium had previously raised approximately $8 million in total funding. CEO Kiernan-Linn co-founded the company to bridge traditional financial products with the growing crypto asset class.
