Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 funding at $500 million values Pathway above most seed-stage AI infrastructure peers.
  • AWS named Pathway a frontier model partner in August 2026, strengthening distribution and legitimacy.
  • Transdev, NATO, and La Poste references show Pathway already sells into regulated enterprise environments.

What critics are saying

  • Pathway still needs first few AI Solutions Architects, signaling commercialization remains early in 2026.
  • BDH’s 29.5% ARC-AGI-1 score trails GPT-5.6, risking another benchmark-first, product-second story.
  • A failed post-Transformer bet burns $30M seed capital and leaves Pathway trapped behind incumbents.

What makes Pathway unique

  • BDH abandons token-by-token reasoning, aiming for real-time memory and lower inference cost.
  • Pathway’s open-source Live Data Framework and enterprise templates shorten deployment for live RAG systems.
  • Łukasz Kaiser and Jan Chorowski give Pathway rare research credibility versus typical startup labs.

Polish AI startup Pathway lands $30M in funding at $500M valuation.

Polish AI startup Pathway lands $30M in funding at $500M valuation. Polish AI startup Pathway has raised additional funding at a $500 million valuation, bringing its total seed financing to $30 million as the company develops a new generation of AI models based on its post-Transformer architecture. * Founded by Zuzanna Stamirowska and Adrian Kosowski, Pathway is developing AI models designed to improve reasoning, memory, and adaptation while reducing the computing costs associated with traditional Transformer-based systems. * The company's BDH (Dragon Hatchling) architecture uses persistent state, sparse activity, local interactions, and recurrent latent reasoning to process information without relying primarily on long generated reasoning chains. * Pathway's BDH-CQ reasoning model, with 150 million parameters, achieved 29.5% on the public ARC-AGI-1 evaluation, with a calculated inference cost of around $0.0007 per task. * The company aims to challenge the current AI scaling approach by improving intelligence per dollar and cost-accuracy, particularly for reasoning-heavy workloads. Details of the deal. * The new financing includes participation from Id4 Ventures, TQ Ventures, Red Bridge Ventures, Kadmos Capital, WS Investment Co., and Jonathan Frankle, Chief AI Scientist at Databricks. * Pathway plans to use the funding to expand its compute capacity, including NVIDIA GB300 systems, and further develop and scale its post-Transformer AI architecture and BDH models. * The company is also expanding its team, with Adam Kurzrok, former Group Product Manager for Gemini at Google DeepMind, joining as Chief Product Officer.

Pathway's 150M-parameter AI model achieves 29.5% on ARC-AGI-1 at 11x lower cost than GPT-5.6

Pathway, a Palo Alto-based AI lab, has published benchmark results for BDH-CQ, a 150-million-parameter reasoning model that scored 29.5% on the ARC-AGI-1 evaluation set at $0.0007 per task. The model runs approximately 11 times more cheaply than OpenAI's GPT 5.6 Luna, which scores 34.2% at significantly higher cost. BDH-CQ performs reasoning in a recurrent latent state rather than generating intermediate text tokens, reducing inference costs and latency. The results were evaluated by Łukasz Kaiser, co-author of the 2017 Transformer paper. Pathway plans to scale the architecture and extend it to more challenging reasoning benchmarks. The company is led by CEO Zuzanna Stamirowska and backed by investors including Kaiser.

Pathway hits $500M valuation with Post-Transformer AI architecture solving 97.4% of Sudoku Extreme puzzles

Pathway, an AI startup, has reached a $500 million valuation as it prepares to publicly benchmark its Post-Transformer models. The company argues current AI scaling strategies relying on more data, GPUs, and capital are unsustainable due to energy and data constraints. In October, Pathway published research on BDH, a Post-Transformer architecture built on a biologically inspired state-space sequence design. The architecture enables continuous learning from small datasets without retraining cycles. In recent tests, BDH solved 97.4% of Sudoku Extreme puzzles, a task where leading reasoning models reportedly scored near zero. The company secured additional funding, bringing total seed funding to $30 million, primarily for compute capacity. Investors include Id4 Ventures, TQ Ventures, and Red Bridge Ventures. Adam Kurzrok, formerly at Google DeepMind, joined as chief product officer.

Pathway's BDH-CQ AI model cuts costs by 11x while nearing GPT-5.6 performance

Palo Alto-based AI lab Pathway announced on 11 August that its BDH-CQ model achieved 29.5% pass@2 on ARC-AGI-1 at a computed cost of $0.0007 per task. ARC-AGI-1 is a public benchmark measuring fluid intelligence on novel pattern tasks, with pass@2 scoring allowing two attempts. Pathway said OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna (Low) scored 34.2% on the same test, costing about 11 times more per task, based on ARC Prize Foundation leaderboard data from July 2026. The company said BDH-CQ avoids producing intermediate text and can reduce reasoning overhead. Łukasz Kaiser replicated BDH-CQ's results, and Richard Zhong, a New York University researcher, also reproduced them.

Senior ML Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer. Posted 6 days ago About Pathway. Pathway is shaking the foundations of artificial intelligence by introducing the world's first post-transformer model that adapts and thinks just like humans. Pathway's breakthrough architecture (BDH) outperforms Transformer and provides the enterprise with full visibility into how the model works. Combining the foundational model with the fastest data processing engine on the market, Pathway enables enterprises to move beyond incremental optimization and toward truly contextualized, experience-driven intelligence. The company is trusted by organizations such as NATO, La Poste, and Formula 1 racing teams. Pathway is led by co-founder & CEO Zuzanna Stamirowska, a complexity scientist who created a team consisting of AI pioneers, including CTO Jan Chorowski who was the first person to apply Attention to speech and worked with Nobel laureate Goeff Hinton at Google Brain, as well as CSO Adrian Kosowski, a leading computer scientist and quantum physicist who obtained his PhD at the age of 20. The company is backed by leading investors and advisors, including TQ Ventures and Lukasz Kaiser, co-author of the Transformer ("the T" in ChatGPT) and a key researcher behind OpenAI's reasoning models. Pathway is headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The opportunity. We are looking for a Senior ML Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer who loves Linux, distributed systems, and scaling GPU clusters more than fiddling with notebooks. You will own the infrastructure that powers our ML training and inference workloads across multiple cloud providers, from bare-bones Linux to container orchestration and CI/CD. You will sit close to the R&D team, but your home is production infrastructure: clusters, networks, storage, observability, and automation. Your work will directly determine how fast we can train, ship, and iterate on models. Why this role is special. * Operate and scale GPU-heavy clusters used daily by the R&D team for large-scale training and low-latency inference. * Design, build, and automate the ML platform rather than just run pre-defined playbooks. * Work across multiple major cloud providers, solving interesting problems in networking, scheduling, and cost/performance optimization at scale. You will. * Design, operate, and scale GPU and CPU clusters for ML training and inference (Slurm, Kubernetes, autoscaling, queueing, quota management). * Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, cluster-tooling) and configuration management. * Build and maintain robust ML pipelines (data ingestion, training, evaluation, deployment) with strong guarantees around reproducibility, traceability, and rollback. * Implement and evolve ML-centric CI/CD: testing, packaging, deployment of models and services. * Own monitoring, logging, and alerting across training and serving: GPU/CPU utilization, latency, throughput, failures, and data/model drift (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, CloudWatch). * Work with terabyte-scale datasets and the associated storage, networking, and performance challenges. * Partner closely with ML engineers and researchers to productionize their work, translating experimental setups into robust, scalable systems. * Participate in on-call rotation for critical ML infrastructure and lead incident response and post-mortems when things break. You are. * Former or current Linux / systems / network administrator who is comfortable living in the shell and debugging at OS and network layers (systemd, filesystems, iptables/security groups, DNS, TLS, routing). * 5+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE/Platform/Infrastructure roles running production systems, ideally with high-performance or ML workloads. * Deep familiarity with Linux as a daily driver, including shell scripting and configuration of clusters and services. What we are looking for. * Strong experience with workload management, containerization, and orchestration (Slurm, Docker, Kubernetes) in production environments. * Solid understanding of CI/CD tools and workflows (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.), including building pipelines from scratch. * Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, Azure), especially around GPU instances, VPC/networking, storage, and managed ML services (e.g., SageMaker HyperPod, Vertex AI). * Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar) and a bias toward automation over manual operations. * Experience with monitoring and logging stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, CloudWatch, or equivalents). * Familiarity with ML pipeline and experiment orchestration tools (MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow, Metaflow, etc.) and with model/version management. * Solid programming skills in Python, plus the ability to read and debug code that uses common ML libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow) even if you are not a full-time model developer. * Strong ownership mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and enthusiasm for scaling and hardening critical infrastructure for an ML-heavy environment. * Willingness to learn. Why you should apply. * Intellectually stimulating work environment. Be a pioneer: you get to work with realtime data processing & AI. * Work in one of the hottest AI startups, with exciting career prospects. Team members are distributed across the world. * Responsibilities and ability to make significant contribution to the company' success * Inclusive workplace culture Further details. * Type of contract: Permanent employment contract * Preferable joining date: Immediate. * Compensation: based on profile and location. * Location: Remote work. Possibility to work or meet with other team members in one of our offices: Palo Alto, CA; Paris, France or Wroclaw, Poland. Candidates based anywhere in the EU, United States, and Canada will be considered. Pathway.
