PPemberton is an independent asset management group that focuses on private debt and direct lending to European non-investment grade mid-market companies. It connects borrowers with institutional investors worldwide by providing funding through a long-term partnership approach. The company combines asset management and banking expertise and operates across seven European locations to stay close to clients. A 40% equity stake from Legal & General Group Plc established a large-scale platform with experienced local origination teams, giving access to European mid-market borrowers. Pemberton’s goal is to build lasting relationships with borrowers and channels for capital, enabling funding from global institutions to support European private debt opportunities.

Pemberton has provided a financing package to support Exponent's investment in Killarney Telecommunications Limited (KTL). The financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 1998 and based in Naas, Ireland, KTL provides critical infrastructure services to telecoms and power networks across Ireland and the UK. It covers design, planning, engineering, commissioning, and maintenance for network operators and asset owners. KTL has more than 600 employees. Pemberton says it is well placed to meet rising demand from growing data use, network densification, and the electrification of the economy. Tom Jervis, director of origination at Pemberton, said the firm is "delighted to back Exponent and the KTL management team" as the business continues to scale.
Pemberton opens Tokyo office to tap demand for European private credit. 60 minutes ago European private credit manager Pemberton Asset Management has opened an office in Tokyo as it seeks to deepen relationships with Japanese institutional investors and expand its presence in Asia. The London-based firm has served Japanese investors since 2018. The new office will be led by Shintaro Mori, who is relocating to Tokyo from his business development role, Pemberton said in a statement on Tuesday. Pemberton has also appointed Shotaro Sese as executive director of business development and Naoko Nozaki as head of compliance in Japan. Sese will focus on institutional investor relationships, while Nozaki will oversee the firm's compliance and regulatory matters in the country. The expansion comes as Japanese institutional investors increasingly look beyond domestic markets to diversify their private credit allocations, according to Pemberton. The firm plans to open another office in Asia in the near future but did not disclose the location. 'Japan is an important market for us,' said Symon Drake-Brockman, Pemberton's co-founder and managing partner. 'With a permanent presence in Tokyo, we will be able to work even more closely with our clients in the market.' Jun Narui, Pemberton's head of Asia Pacific, said Japanese investors were broadening their interest beyond direct lending into other private credit strategies. 'Geographic diversification is becoming an increasingly important consideration, driving interest in European private credit given the depth, scale and maturity of the region's lending markets,' Narui said. Global allocations to European private credit are expected to nearly double to more than €800 billion by 2030, according to research cited by Pemberton from Preqin. The Tokyo office adds to Pemberton's regional business development and investor relations team, which includes Narui and investor relations professional Ayu Kurauchi. The firm said the expansion would strengthen its ability to serve Japanese investors and provide access to its European private credit strategies. Pemberton's move comes as asset managers seek to build closer relationships with institutional investors in Asia, where demand for overseas private market strategies is creating opportunities for managers to raise capital beyond their home markets.
Pemberton opens Tokyo office as Japanese investors eye European credit. October 13 2026 Pemberton Asset Management has opened an office in Tokyo, as Japanese institutional investors eye European private credit. The new office will be led by Jun Narui, head of Asia Pacific, and Shintaro Mori in business development, who will both relocate to Tokyo, alongside Ayu Kurauchi in investor relations, who has played a central role in building the firm's presence in the region, the manager said. The European firm, which oversees $34bn (£25.6bn) in assets, also plans to open a second office in Asia in the near future. It comes as institutional investors across the region continue to allocate capital to European private credit to diversify their portfolios, Pemberton said. "Interest in private credit continues to grow among Japanese institutional investors," said Narui. "As allocations increase, many investors are expanding their focus beyond direct lending into other areas of private credit. "Geographic diversification is becoming an increasingly important consideration, driving interest in European private credit given the depth, scale and maturity of the region's lending markets." As part of the expansion, Shotaro Sese has joined Pemberton as executive director for business development, while Naoko Nozaki has joined as head of compliance. Based in the Tokyo office, Sese will develop relationships with institutional investors and support the firm's growth in Japan, while Nozaki will oversee all compliance matters in the country. The office strengthens the manager's presence in Japan, where it has had an institutional investor base since 2018. Japan accounts for an increasingly important share of capital allocated to private credit, Pemberton said. "Japan is an important market for us," said Symon Drake-Brockman, co-founder and managing partner at Pemberton. "Our experienced London-based team has done an excellent job building our Japanese business for nearly a decade, and now with a permanent presence in Tokyo we will be able to work even more closely with our clients in the market."
