NTC, an Italian pharmaceutical company specialising in ophthalmology, has completed the acquisition of Pharmathen's ophthalmology business unit with support from its main shareholder Wise Equity. The deal adds a consolidated portfolio of glaucoma treatments to NTC's offerings. The acquisition brings NTC's revenue to approximately €100 million, with over 80% derived from ophthalmology. The company now reaches more than 100 countries through over 250 distribution partners and gains entry into the US market through its B2B model. The acquired glaucoma portfolio includes many preservative-free formulations and complements NTC's existing therapeutic areas covering antibiotic therapy, inflammation, allergies and dry eye. Globally, around 80 million people suffer from glaucoma, a number expected to reach 112 million by 2040. Wise Equity's Wisequity VI fund, launched in May 2023 with €400 million in commitments, supported the transaction.
