Ping Identity launches controls for personal AI agents. Wed, 2nd Sep 2026 (Today) Ping Identity has launched Enterprise Personal Agent Access, aimed at companies using personal AI agents such as Claude in workplace systems. Available through PingOne Privilege, the offering is already being piloted with global enterprise customers. It is designed to identify personal AI agents in supported environments, link their sessions to a user and device, and control what those agents can access and do. The launch comes as businesses grapple with the spread of AI agents beyond centrally approved software. Employees and developers are increasingly using desktop assistants and coding agents in day-to-day work, sometimes with access to internal services, repositories, databases and cloud infrastructure. That creates a security problem for organisations that built identity controls around human users rather than software agents acting on a person's behalf. Ping argues that these tools can move across systems at machine speed, making it harder for companies to track who initiated an action and whether it should have been allowed. Research from Gravitee, cited by Ping, found that 48% of production AI agents are running unsecured. Against that backdrop, identity and cyber security suppliers are focusing more closely on how enterprises can discover agent use, restrict access and retain an audit trail. Runtime controls Ping said its system detects an AI agent when it is initiated in supported environments and associates the session with the person and device behind it. It then applies policy enforcement in front of managed resources to decide whether actions should be allowed, denied or logged, whether a sensitive task should require human approval, or whether access should be revoked in real time. The approach extends beyond AI applications themselves. Personal AI agents may connect to MCP servers, code repositories, internal services and APIs, Kubernetes clusters, databases and cloud systems, potentially giving them access to some of the most sensitive parts of a company's technology estate. For software development teams, Ping said the product allows agents to commit code and reach approved resources without storing long-lived credentials. It also records whether an action was taken by the developer or by the agent, giving security teams a clearer record of activity. The launch also reflects a broader shift in enterprise software towards governing a mix of AI models and agent tools from different providers. Ping said its controls are intended to work across multiple agent environments, with Claude and Claude Code highlighted as supported examples. Andre Durand outlined the company's view of the challenge facing large organisations as agent use broadens across departments and workflows. "Enterprises are deploying a number of different AI models, agents and platforms," said Andre Durand, Founder and CEO, Ping Identity. "The security challenge is establishing a common way to see and govern all of them. The question isn't whether an agent is intelligent enough to act, but whether the enterprise can see and control its action when it does." Growing concern Security reviews have become a sticking point for many AI deployments, especially when an agent can take actions rather than simply generate text or recommendations. In those cases, companies need to know what agents are running, what systems they can reach, what permissions they hold, and whether responsibility for a mistake lies with the user or the software agent. Identity management vendors have been adapting access controls, authentication and authorisation systems for this new layer of software activity. The aim is to preserve the accountability companies expect from human users while recognising that AI agents can execute tasks autonomously and at much greater speed. Ping said Enterprise Personal Agent Access is part of that effort, with a focus on visibility from discovery through to enforcement at the moment an action is attempted. It also said it took part in Anthropic's Project Glasswing to evaluate advanced AI in the security and resilience of its own codebase and internal systems. The latest product is likely to be watched closely by companies trying to balance AI adoption with internal controls, especially where personal AI agents are already appearing in developer workflows and on employee desktops before formal governance has caught up. According to Ping, every recorded action can be attributed to the developer or the agent involved in the session, giving security teams a record of what the agent did, when it happened and the user associated with the session.

These help to unify identity verification, qualified signing, transaction monitoring and digital asset compliance into a single platform. Shufti wants to help businesses handle different compliance functions, and avoid fragmented workflows, as regulatory frameworks tighten across digital identity, financial crime and digital assets. Europe's updated eIDAS 2.0 framework requires trusted electronic identification and qualified signatures, while the EU's new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation takes effect in July 2027. In digital asset markets, the FATF Travel Rule and EU Transfer of Funds Regulation mandate stricter information exchange between providers. "We expanded Shufti to connect these critical compliance activities around a verified identity," says Frayam Asif, CTO at Shufti. Shufti's new Qualified Electronic Signatures capability links verified identity directly to legally binding e-signatures, giving them full eIDAS legal standing across the EU. Its Transaction Trust Monitoring tool combines fraud and AML detection into a single scoring engine, supported by integrated case management and audit trails. Meanwhile, the Travel Rule compliance module automates originator and beneficiary data exchange for virtual asset transfers, with counterparty risk scoring and secure IVMS 101 messaging. Shufti will host live demo sessions on August 18, August 25 and September 1, covering qualified signatures, transaction monitoring and Travel Rule compliance. The Indian government has introduced a tax holiday for foreign AI service providers to encourage local data centre establishment. India's race to build AI infrastructure has largely centred on GPUs, cloud capacity, and hyperscale data centres. But as enterprises move AI from pilot projects into production, having a secure digital identity is becoming indispensable. One of the solutions is using local data centre infrastructure, and to facilitate that, the government announced a 21-year tax holiday to foreign cloud and AI service providers in return for setting up data centres in the country. One of the players moving in is enterprise identity security provider Ping Identity, which has launched a new data centre in Mumbai, allowing organisations to host supported identity workloads locally while reducing latency and strengthening governance over digital identities. Hosted in Google Cloud's Mumbai region, the deployment also supports customers' data residency preferences as businesses navigate India's evolving privacy landscape and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act. "Customers realise it is not just about protecting data. It is about understanding who is accessing it, how it is being used, maintaining accountability and having evidence of every movement of that data," comments Jasie Fon, Regional Vice President of Asia, Ping Identity, in a conversation with AIM. Ping Identity, which was founded in Denver, US, in 2002, now considers India as among the fastest-growing strategic markets, driven by increasing enterprise AI adoption, stricter governance requirements, and rising demand for trusted digital infrastructure. Why India, why now? For Ping Identity, opening a local data centre is the culmination of a strategy that began well before the latest AI boom. Fon says the company deliberately chose India as a growth market because enterprise identity was becoming increasingly critical as organisations digitised their operations. "When I continued to engage with customers in India, one thing that kept coming up was data residency requirements, particularly from highly regulated industries," she highlights. The company employs around 300 people in India across engineering, product development and customer support, with the new Mumbai deployment extending that long-term investment. The greatest pull has been the DPDP Act, as many enterprises are now recognising that identity governance offers an opportunity to modernise how access to critical systems and data is managed. Identity becomes AI's trust layer. While identity has traditionally focused on securing employees and customers, the rapid rise of AI agents is fundamentally changing its role. According to Deloitte's 2026 State of AI in the Enterprise report, 40% of Indian organisations report significant or full AI usage, compared with a global average of around 28%. As AI becomes embedded in enterprise operations, organisations must govern not only people but also autonomous software agents. Whether an AI agent is approving a bank loan, accessing sensitive patient records, or resetting customer passwords, enterprises need visibility into what information it can access, what actions it can perform, and whether those actions remain appropriately governed throughout its lifecycle, she says. That, Fon believes, elevates identity from a traditional security function to a foundational component of AI infrastructure. "We see identity becoming the foundation, the trust layer of AI," Fon says. "You need traceability, auditability, and governance. If an AI agent goes rogue, you need human oversight and the ability to intervene." Ping Identity describes this approach as providing a continuous "trust layer" through its Runtime Identity platform, which verifies identity, context, and intent across customers, employees, partners, and non-human entities. Governance shifts beyond IT. AI is also changing who builds technology inside enterprises. Fon says innovation is increasingly originating from business functions rather than central IT teams, with departments deploying their own AI agents to automate everyday tasks. While this democratisation of AI accelerates innovation, it also introduces governance risks if organisations lack consistent identity controls. Rather than tying identity to individual AI development platforms, Ping advocates a universal identity layer capable of recognising and governing AI agents regardless of where they are created. "It shouldn't matter which platform you use to develop your agents," Fon says. "Identity sits within the organisation's infrastructure and should recognise every agent, assign appropriate roles and define what they can read, write and execute." She describes identity as becoming the "control plane" that provides visibility, authentication, authorisation, and governance across enterprise AI environments. India's strategic role grows. Beyond customer demand, India is also becoming increasingly important to Ping Identity's global operations. Alongside serving enterprise customers, the company's Bengaluru engineering centre contributes to product development and innovation. "I think India will continue to be very strategic, not just from a revenue point of view, but also from our R&D and engineering capability perspective," Fon says. Looking ahead, she expects AI to accelerate enterprise identity adoption even further. While many international markets initially focused on customer identity, she observes that Indian organisations are currently prioritising workforce and enterprise identity as they prepare for large-scale AI deployments.
