German luxury carmaker Porsche confirmed its financial forecast for the 2026 fiscal year and provided preliminary insights into its new 'Strategy 2035' at its 4th Annual General Meeting held on 23 June 2026. The strategy is designed to enhance profitability and strategic resilience through three primary pillars as outlined by Dr. Michael Leiters, CEO, Porsche, with full details to be presented at a Capital Markets Day on 7 October 2026. * Brand & Customer: Porsche will refocus on its sports car DNA, design and exclusivity. The strategy shifts away from volume maximisation toward a focus on desirability and value. * Products & Technology: The company plans to reduce model complexity by cutting the number of variants. Porsche will continue to invest in combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains, noting that the 911 will remain combustion-hybrid and will not move to a fully electric powertrain. * Company & Operations: Porsche is structurally streamlining its organisation at all levels and investigating increased use of Volkswagen Group modular platforms. The concept reflects the uncertainty many automakers face as emissions regulations tighten while customer demand remains divided between electric and combustion-powered vehicles. Rather than choosing a single direction, Porsche appears to be investigating whether one powertrain can satisfy multiple use cases. At the center of the patent is an unusual combustion engine that features two distinct cylinder banks with different internal designs and purposes. Combined with electric motors and a battery pack, the system could switch between several operating modes depending on driving conditions. Whether it ever reaches production remains unclear, but the patent offers a fascinating glimpse into how Porsche is thinking about the future of performance and electrification. Porsche Taycan adds fake gears in unusual 2027 update. Porsche Taycan for the 2027 model year is getting one of the most unusual new features in the world of electric cars. Alongside the real two speed transmission on the rear axle, which the Taycan has had from the beginning and which operates automatically, Porsche is now introducing eight simulated gear ratios. The system is called E Shift, it works via paddle shifters behind the steering wheel and introduces artificial gear changes into the drive, different torque curves, a virtual rev limiter and an adapted electric sound. At first glance this seems somewhat absurd. One of the biggest advantages of electric propulsion is precisely that there is no need for constant gear shifting. Power is delivered instantly, acceleration is linear, and the mechanics are simpler than in classic sports cars. But Porsche is clearly not trying to solve a technical problem, but an emotional one. The Taycan is fast, highly capable and technically impressive, but a large number of sports car drivers still look for rhythm, tension and interaction that a combustion engine provides. In this sense E Shift makes sense, at least as a toy for enthusiasts. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has already shown that simulated gears can be surprisingly fun if done well. They do not make the car faster, but they give the driver a feeling of more active involvement in what is happening. Porsche is now trying to fit a similar idea into its own sports language. The difference is that the Taycan already has a real two speed transmission, but it remains in the background. The eight virtual gears that the driver selects are essentially a software performance. There is both irony and acknowledgment in this. Electric sports cars are so efficient that manufacturers increasingly have to bring back imperfections they have spent years trying to remove. Sound, interruptions in acceleration, fake gear changes and a virtual limiter are not needed for the drivetrain, but for the human behind the wheel. Porsche has also made practical technical changes. A battery health display has also been introduced, while the infotainment system gets more powerful hardware, faster responses, simpler icons, more advanced voice control and 25 W wireless phone charging. The 2027 model year Taycan is now available for order in Germany, and prices have not yet been announced.

Porsche opens its largest Porsche Centre in the country in Hyderabad. Porsche India, in partnership with EVM Premium Cars, officially opened a new facility here, introducing the brand's second point of sales in the city and reinforcing its long-term commitment to a key growth market. Spanning approximately 2,800 square metres, Porsche Centre Hyderabad is the largest Porsche facility in India by scale, and includes sales, service and spare parts all at one site. Porsche Centre Hyderabad represents India's third combined sales, service and spare parts facility nationwide, joining Bengaluru and Chennai. It expands the brand's national footprint to a total of 14 sales touchpoints and 10 service touchpoints. The new facility features the 'Destination Porsche' showroom design concept, offering a more lifestyle-led environment for customers and brand enthusiasts to engage with Porsche beyond the traditional retail setting. "Hyderabad is a city defined by ambition, entrepreneurship and a rapidly evolving luxury mindset. With the inauguration of Porsche Centre Hyderabad, we are strengthening our presence in a key growth market, with a facility that brings together the complete Porsche experience under one roof, from an immersive retail environment to advanced service capabilities," Ashutosh Dixit, Head - Porsche India said.
