Windward, a leading maritime AI company, has acquired Prominent Edge, a US defence technology firm specialising in geospatial and maritime software solutions for the US government. The acquisition strengthens Windward's capabilities in the American defence and national security sectors. Prominent Edge brings over a decade of experience delivering mission-critical software to US government agencies, along with ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and CMMI Dev Level 3 certifications. The company's expertise complements Windward's AI-powered maritime intelligence platform, which processes vessel behaviour, trade patterns and risk indicators to deliver real-time intelligence. The deal follows Windward's 2025 acquisition by FTV Capital, which established the company as US majority-owned. The combined entity will serve government and commercial customers operating in increasingly complex maritime environments.

At Prominent Edge, Prominent Edge created a Learning & Skills portal in order to maximize Prominent Edge’s effectiveness at quantifying these skills and to provide a centralized place for its team to record and maintain their skills.
