Proton.ai launches unified industry cloud platform for distributors. Proton.ai launched an AI-powered "industry cloud" platform that unifies CRM, PIM, eCommerce and order automation into a single system, aiming to replace disconnected point solutions and streamline distributor workflows with shared data and integrated intelligence. Proton.ai has introduced a cloud-based platform designed to consolidate multiple software functions used by distributors into a single, AI-powered system, the company announced March 17. Positioned as an "industry cloud" for distribution, the platform combines several core capabilities - including CRM, product information management (PIM), eCommerce recommendations and quote/order entry automation - into one shared data environment. The goal is to replace the fragmented mix of point solutions that many distributors rely on today. The company said distributors often operate with disconnected systems that create data silos and require manual workarounds, such as rekeying information across platforms. By consolidating these functions, Proton.ai aims to reduce software contracts, integration complexity and ongoing maintenance costs while improving data consistency. The platform currently includes four primary modules: * CRM: Uses AI trained on ERP order history to recommend which accounts to contact, what products to promote and when to engage, with the intent of guiding sales activity rather than simply recording it. * PIM: Automates the collection, enrichment and standardization of product data from manufacturer sources. The tool is designed to reduce manual data work and improve data quality, while generating unique product content for each distributor. * eCommerce recommendation engine: Embeds personalized product suggestions based on historical purchasing behavior, similar to consumer retail platforms, to increase order value and conversion rates. * Quote and order entry automation: Currently in waitlist phase, this tool reads incoming orders and quotes from emails or PDFs, drafts them for review and integrates them into internal systems. All modules operate on a shared data layer, which Proton.ai says allows each component to improve over time while keeping distributor data private and portable. The company also emphasized the operational burden created by point solutions, noting that distributors often spend significant time managing integrations and reconciling inconsistent data across systems. Proton.ai CEO Benj Cohen said the platform is intended to shift that dynamic by delivering more integrated functionality out of the box. Customer examples cited in the announcement include Trade Supply Group, which uses the PIM tool to improve product data quality, and MSC Industrial Supply, which has expanded its use of Proton.ai's AI-driven tools since 2021. Proton.ai said its CRM, PIM and eCommerce tools are available now, while the quote and order entry product is in development. Additional capabilities, including AI-driven pricing and inventory management, are planned as part of the platform's roadmap.
