Kari Sampson joins Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation as Development Officer. Sampson joined the Foundation in August, bringing more than 20 years of experience at Washington State University in recruitment, student success, retention, coaching and philanthropy. Most recently, Sampson served as Director of Development for WSU's College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences, working with alumni, donors and community partners. For Sampson, joining Pullman Regional Hospital is also a deeply personal connection to the community she has called home for 22 years. Her daughter, Faith, received care at Pullman Regional Hospital as a child, an experience that left a lasting impression on the Sampson family. "Pullman Regional has been a part of our family's story and I have experienced firsthand what it means to have extraordinary care at our community hospital," Sampson said. "I am incredibly grateful for the ways my daughter and our family were supported during a very difficult time. We felt an extension of professional and personalized care from the moment we entered PRH and eventually returned home. That extension of care has continued and amplified over the years. Pullman Regional is filled with skilled and caring professionals. The opportunity to advocate and serve on behalf of this organization is an honor and a privilege." For Sampson's daughter, now a pre-med sophomore, the experience helped inspire her decision to pursue a career in medicine as a rheumatologist. "So much of her motivation in doing so is rooted in the care and ongoing support she has received from so many at Pullman Regional Hospital - doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers alike. She hopes to pay that forward in her future career," says Sampson. Sampson believes one of the most rewarding parts of philanthropy is connecting generous people with opportunities to make a lasting difference. "I've always enjoyed connecting with people," she said. "The ability to do so in a professional manner, helping identify where personal passions align with our community needs in healthcare, is icing on the cake! There are so many people in our community who want to make a difference. I am honored to help connect their generosity with the needs and opportunities that will strengthen healthcare for our region." In her new role, Sampson will help cultivate and strengthen relationships with colleagues, donors and community members while connecting philanthropic support with opportunities that advance Pullman Regional Hospital's mission of improving lives through exceptional healthcare. Pullman Regional relaunches Whitman County Senior Nutrition Program. Aug 13, 2026 | Last updated Aug 13, 2026 Pullman, WA-Pullman Regional Hospital's Senior Nutrition Program is now fully operational under the hospital's Integrated Care Services department to ensure continued access to vital nutrition services for older adults or adults impacted by mobility barriers across the region. Supported by Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington (ALTCEW), the Senior Nutrition Program manages congregate meal sites, a home meal delivery service, and provides other nutrition resources to help seniors remain connected to their community and receive the nutritional support they need. This acquisition comes after the discontinuation of services by the Whitman County Council on Aging in late 2025, and the program has since been adopted within Pullman Regional Hospital's inclusive care model, falling under Integrated Care Services. Pullman Regional has hired Allyssa Sheppard as the Program Coordinator to regulate program services, complete administrative tasks, and onboard volunteers. She previously worked at the hospital as a Chef for the Red Sage Cafe and was most recently the Executive Chef of Catering for Washington State University. Allyssa shares that her love for community motivates her to bring joy and happiness to seniors, giving them a safe, welcoming space to meet others and socialize over shared meals. The Senior Nutrition Program currently operates four congregate meal sites in Pullman, Palouse, Uniontown, and Colfax. Each site has a designated day of the week for meal service, which begins at 12 p.m. each day: Tuesdays at the Pullman Senior Center, Wednesdays at the Palouse Community Center and Uniontown Community Building, and Thursdays at the Colfax Food Pantry. The Senior Nutrition Program is also continuing the Meals on Wheels program for home-bound seniors to deliver hot, nutritious lunchtime meals with the help of volunteers. Volunteers will additionally help attend to seniors at congregate meal sites and complete supplementary tasks as needed. Currently, the Senior Nutrition Program is offering a voucher on fresh fruits and vegetables from the Moscow and Lewiston Farmers Markets through the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). Those eligible for the SFMNP must be 60 years old or older, a resident of Washington state, and 185% below the Federal Poverty Level.
