Grub Lab, an Australian startup transforming traditional kids' menus into interactive engagement platforms, has raised $6 million from Quantaco to expand across the US. The company has secured partnerships with the National Basketball Association, National Football League, Sony Pictures and Universal Pictures. The platform enables independent restaurants to offer licensed, interactive kids' menus featuring QR-enabled augmented reality experiences, games and retail offers. Grub Lab's solution addresses challenges facing independent restaurants in 2026, including elevated food costs, tight labour markets and softened consumer dining frequency. The menus include collectible, full-colour licensed content, AR-powered digital extensions and integrated retail promotions. CEO Mick Carr said parents now seek venues offering entertainment and value beyond just meals, making engagement tools critical for restaurants competing for family traffic.
