Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre
Apr 29th, 2026
CMBTC welcomes RahrBSG and P&H as new members.

CMBTC welcomes RahrBSG and P&H as new members. April 29, 2026. April 29, 2026 (Winnipeg, Man.) - The Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre is pleased to welcome RahrBSG and Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) as members, bringing its membership to 29 organizations from across the barley and malt value chain. RahrBSG is a family-owned malt company with more than 175 years of history serving brewers and beverage producers. P&H is a Canadian, family-owned agribusiness with roots dating back to 1909 and operations across grain handling and merchandising, crop inputs, flour milling, feed milling and animal nutrition, as well as egg grading and processing. Their membership brings additional malting, grain handling and export expertise into the CMBTC. "RahrBSG and P&H join CMBTC at an important time for the Canadian barley and malt industry," says Jon White, chair of CMBTC. "Their membership brings broader industry perspective to the table and strengthens CMBTC's ability to help position the sector for the opportunities ahead." With global trade dynamics shifting, Canada's barley and malt industry is working to maintain strong relationships in established markets while expanding its reach in new and emerging ones. That makes broad industry participation increasingly important as CMBTC works to support the sector's priorities and pursue new opportunities. Strong export demand supports a competitive domestic barley and malting industry in Canada. Rahr's membership reflects the importance of working together across the malting industry to build demand, strengthen market relationships and support the long-term growth of Canadian barley and malt. "CMBTC understands the unique needs of the barley and malting industry," says Kevin Sich, Supply Chain Director at RahrBSG. "We look forward to joining CMBTC and being part of the work underway to support growers, strengthen export markets and support the long-term competitiveness of Canada's malting industry." P&H's membership adds another national grain company perspective to CMBTC at a time when the industry is looking closely at where future demand may come from and how Canadian barley can compete across a broader range of market opportunities. "P&H is pleased to join CMBTC as a member," says Darren Amerongen, vice-president, merchandising, at P&H. "CMBTC plays an important role in supporting Canadian barley and malt, and membership gives us the opportunity to contribute to the work and priorities shaping the industry." As the national trade association for Canadian barley and malt, CMBTC represents the full value chain, from breeding and production through to grain handling and processing.
