Rare

Rare

Drives global community action for conservation

Overview

Rare helps people and communities protect and restore the planet by running programs that focus on waters, lands, and climate. It works by providing tools, knowledge, resources, and partnerships that empower local action, which can then grow to regional and national impact. Its programs—the Center for Behavior & the Environment, Fish Forever, Lands for Life, Climate Culture, and Innovative Finance—support community-led conservation, sustainable use of resources, and climate resilience across more than 60 countries. Rare differs from competitors by tying behavior change science directly to on-the-ground conservation and financing, using a global network built over more than five decades to coordinate local actions at scale. The goal is to turn individual actions into collective impact that safeguards ecosystems and protects people’s livelihoods.
