News Service To enable recovery of 4.5 million kilograms of waste over a 3-year period, connect 80,000 households, and integrate 50 coastal villages into structured formal waste management systems Bengaluru, 21 April 2026: On the occasion of Earth Day, Sattva Group, in partnership with Knowledge Realty Trust and rePurpose Global, has announced the launch of the Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative, a multi-year programme focused on building structured, community led waste management systems across the state's coastline. At Sattva Group and Knowledge Realty Trust (KRT REIT), growth is approached with the understanding that it must remain aligned with the environment and communities. As organizations engaged in building and managing high quality, sustainable environments for modern India, there is a clear recognition that environmental health and community wellbeing are fundamental to meaningful progress. The Karnataka Zero Waste Initiative extends this approach by enabling systems that improve ecological outcomes while strengthening local livelihoods. Spanning three years, the initiative addresses the growing challenge of plastic waste along Karnataka's 320 Km coastline, where plastic accounts for 60 percent coastal litter. The programme is designed to put in place waste management systems that are locally run, financially viable, and capable of delivering consistent and measurable results. The initiative will connect over 80,000 households to formal waste management systems and integrate 50 coastal villages into formal waste management systems, improving waste handling at the source. It will support 200 waste workers through stable livelihoods, skill development, and safer working conditions, helping build a more secure and dignified waste value chain. In parallel, it is expected to enable the recovery and responsible processing of approximately 4.5 million kilograms of waste, improving coastal conditions and reducing environmental leakage into marine ecosystems. London-based Marleybones, a premium dog food brand, has closed a £2.5 million funding round led by TAW Ventures, the investment firm founded by Jane Lauder, with follow-on support from JamJar Investments, Active Partners, and Animal Health Angels. The round stands out for its strong female representation, with a female-founded company and an all-female investor team, still rare in European venture capital. Founded in 2020 to bridge the gap between quality and convenience, Marleybones offers Pantry Fresh(R) meals that are slow-cooked, nutritionally complete, and packaged in sustainable cartons. The range also includes vet-developed supplements, an omega oil, and natural air-dried treats, each vet-approved and produced in the UK. This investment follows over 200 per cent growth since the previous round and several milestones: expanded retail distribution, new product partnerships, a line of functional supplements, and a pilot veterinary channel. We've built strong traction across D2C and retail, expanded into supplements, and proven category demand with triple-digit growth. With TAW Ventures and JamJar by our side, we're ready to accelerate our journey to make Pantry Fresh(R) a household standard. On sustainability, Marleybones partnered with rePurpose Global to achieve plastic-neutral certification, sources 100 per cent of UK-made products from locally grown British ingredients, and packages all meals in fully recyclable Tetra Pak cartons, avoiding millions of single-use plastic pouches and trays.
