Recidiviz builds a free data platform for U.S. criminal justice agencies that standardizes data from siloed systems and shares it in dashboards. The platform connects information from state departments of correction, probation, and parole to provide real-time insights, such as release opportunities, supervision monitoring, and caseload prioritization for staff. It differentiates itself as a mission-driven non-profit offering practical, no-cost data tooling designed for public agencies. Its goal is to reduce the incarcerated population and improve reentry outcomes through data-driven decisions and policy impact.

The Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation finds, funds and supports early stage, high impact social enterprises that are tackling some of the world’s most challenging problems. Borrowed from our venture capital legacy we find exceptional entrepreneurs, provide them with 3 years of unrestricted capital and provide rigorous on-going support by joining their board of directors for the 3 years of the grant and partnering with the leader to help them to build capacity in their organization and scale their impact.
Since Recidiviz has unveiled Spotlight, Pennsylvania also launched a public dashboard and Recidiviz is working to bring these kinds of readily available insights to more states.
Recidiviz, a nonprofit using technology to create a smaller, safer, and more equitable criminal justice system, was named the winner of the 2021 Gregor G. Peterson Prize in Venture Philanthropy.
The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) has partnered with Recidiviz on a new initiative to further the states’ efforts to improve record-low recidivism rates through advancements in outcome-based decision-making.
To take advantage of this incredibly unique moment, Recidiviz is launching a new project — called Spark — that is designed to help policymakers turn the current momentum into long-term progress.
