Pioneer Point Partners commits $127M to UK low-carbon heat network platform

Pioneer Point Partners has invested in Rendesco Limited, a UK developer of low-carbon heat networks, committing up to £100 million to the company. The investment comes from Pioneer Infrastructure Partners II, which closed in April 2025, and will facilitate up to £500 million in capital expenditure for low-carbon heat network infrastructure. Founded in 2012, Rendesco specialises in ground source heat pump solutions for new-build residential developments, working with housebuilders on sites ranging from 50 to 2,000 homes. The company has installed heat networks at over 175 developments to date. Pioneer's initial investment acquires a majority stake whilst supporting Rendesco's existing and future pipeline. Founder and CEO Alastair Murray will continue leading the business and remain a shareholder.

UK's Rendesco to scale clean heat offer with £100M investment.

UK's Rendesco to scale clean heat offer with £100M investment. House builders have access to a fully funded end-to-end clean heat solutions 13 May 2026 Newbuild homes in the UK could be soon installed with solutions capable of tapping affordable geothermal energy after an investment decision that paves the way for builders to access a fully funded, end-to-end clean heat solution with no upfront capital cost. The development follows Pioneer Point Partners a £100 million investment in Rendesco, one of the UK's leading geothermal developers, to scale the business and accelerate the roll out of a "Clean Heat Network". The investment, which gives the sustainable infrastructure investor a majority stake in the company, means Rendesco can facilitate up to £500 million of capex to finance and own its heat networks across new build and retrofit projects. Exacerbated by high energy prices, the UK is struggling to efficiently and cost-effectively heat its homes without relying on foreign energy sources. "Rendesco's smart heat pump-led networks are the best solution for newbuild homes, and our retrofit solution can now deliver the same quality of service into the millions of existing homes that need to move off gas," said company founder and CEO Alastair Murray. "Pioneer Point Partners brings a deep understanding of sustainable infrastructure and the conviction to back it at scale. It's a vote of confidence in our team and our solution, and it gives us the firepower to serve many more homes as the Future Homes Standard reshapes the market," he said. Rendesco finances, designs, and operates low-carbon heat networks using ground source heat pump technology. It brought its geothermal drilling capability in-house in 2024, and currently supplies clean heat and hot water to more than 10,000 homes, generating over 28GWh of sustainable energy annually. The new investment is expected to reduce the cost of delivering clean heat, enabling housebuilders to install ground source heat networks at a lower cost than other low-carbon solutions, reducing energy bills for homeowners. The UK's "Future Homes Standard" requires all newbuild homes to be fitted with low-carbon heating, while the Warm Homes Plan is driving growing demand for retrofit solutions for existing homes.
