Rentokil appoints International CEO as it restructures into two divisions. Thu, 13th Aug 2026 11:04 (Sharecast News) - Rentokil Initial appointed Phil Wood as chief executive of its newly-formed international division on Thursday, as it restructured into two operating divisions, the other being the North American business. The international division will comprise Europe, UK, Ireland & Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia & MENAT, Latin America and Pacific and will be led by Wood with immediate effect. Rentokil said Wood is a "highly experienced" operator who has been with the company since 2006 and has led businesses in Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and the UK. "He has a proven track record of delivering growth and has a deep understanding of frontline pest control and hygiene operation," it said. His appointment as chief executive of International is in addition to his current responsibilities leading the UK, Ireland and Sub-Saharan Africa region, which he has done since 2009. Rentokil had already announced in May that Rafael Carrasco would be appointed CEO of North America with effect from 3 August. Most recently, Carrasco served as president of WM Healthcare Solutions and senior vice president of Strategy at WM, where he oversaw multi-site operations with over 200 branches and 10,000 corporate and field-based employees across the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Western Europe. The company also announced the appointment of Matt Jochim as group chief transformation officer with effect from 7 September. He will join the executive leadership team and report directly to the CEO. Rentokil said Jochim brings 30 years of experience leading large-scale business transformations across global multi-site businesses. He joins the group from McKinsey, where he served as partner and leader of the UK & Ireland Operations Practice, owning end-to-end operating transformations for major clients. Chief executive Mike Duffy said: "At its interims, London South East Limited outlined clear priorities to intensify customer focus, deliver sales and operational excellence and simplify the business. Today's appointments strengthen its capabilities to deliver on these priorities and drive profitable growth. Matt's deep expertise in multi-site transformations, Rafa's track record of success in route-based service industries and Phill's extensive experience within its frontline operations will be invaluable as London South East Limited execute its strategy with speed and excellence. "Our focus is now firmly on execution and delivering the improved performance we know this business is capable of through better customer outcomes, driving growth and the long-term shareholder value creation opportunity." Rentokil ditches North American margin target, shares tumble. 365.40p. 11:56 30/07/26. Rentokil Initial tumbled on Thursday after the pest control firm ditched its margin target for North America and said it had seen some weakness in residential lead flow in the region towards the end of the second quarter and into July. 10,909.07. 5,929.27. 5,862.73. 11,120.42. The company said it was "retiring" its NA margin target of 20% in 2027 as it focuses on "driving volume growth over short-term margin expansion". "I am confident through this targeted redeployment we will, over time, accelerate organic growth and improve margins," said chief executive Mike Duffy. In the six months to the end of June, group revenue rose 6.7% to $3.6bn, up 4.5% at constant currency, with 3.6% organic revenue growth. Revenue from North America was up 4.3%, or 4.2% at constant currency, with 3.7% organic growth. The international segment saw revenue grow 10.7%, or 50% at constant currency. Rentokil said group adjusted operating profit rose 8.8% to $556m, with 10.4% growth in North America and 9.9% growth in International. CEO Duffy highlighted the importance of simplifying the business. "We have an overly complex operating model, spanning 90 countries and multiple service lines, that does not prioritise our highest opportunity markets and business lines sufficiently. We must also further optimise the cost base to improve margins and generate fuel for growth," he said. "Underpinning these priorities will be enabling its frontline. They are its brand and when they are engaged and feel valued, they go the extra mile. Sharecast need to make it easier for them to do what they do best - take care of its customers. "We have started to progress these priorities with a focus on North America where we have strengthened the leadership team, taken steps to establish a regional head office and training centre, and begun to standardise the operating model to include the planned segmentation of Commercial and Residential." Duffy said Rentokil had seen some weakness in North America residential lead flow towards the end of Q2 and into July, but the company still expects to deliver FY 2026 profit in line with current market expectations. At 1006 BST, the shares were down 17% at 367.69p.
Rentokil shares slide almost 20 per cent as demand weakens in North America. News Reporter Pest control giant Rentokil's share price slid 17 per cent on Thursday morning following a slow appetite from the North American residential market. The FTSE 100 firm's shares tumbled on market open from 443.30p to 398.60p, despite reporting a 6.7 per cent rise in group revenue for the first six months of the year to $3.5m (£2.6m), also reporting profit before tax growing almost ten per cent to $263m (£196m). The firm's profit growth was driven by pricing growth staying intact ahead of inflation, and organic revenue increased by 4.2 per cent in the second quarter of this year. The pest control company, which operates across 90 countries, said 93 per cent of its revenue comes from its top 20 markets and is not "adequately benefiting from our scale," especially in the North American market, following its multi-billion pound acquisition of rival US pest control firm Terminix in 2022. 'Challenging trading conditions' in the UK. The North American market is critical to Rentokil and accounts for approximately 59 per cent of the group's total revenue, and despite the North American division's overall revenue up $995m (£745.8m) for the first half of this year, the momentum is now slowing. Chief executive Mike Duffy said the firm is "not delivering on our growth potential in many of the markets we operate in, nor adequately benefiting from our scale", and said there has been a notable "weakness in North America" towards the end of July. The group said in the UK, its pest control business was held back by "more challenging trading conditions", in particular by "softness in overall housing demand", leading to its asbestos removal business suffering. "Our focus is driving volume growth over short-term margin expansion, and this targeted redeployment of resources will enable us, over time, to accelerate organic growth, improve margins and free cash flow and deliver on the clear opportunity for shareholder value creation," Duffy said.
Rentokil (RTO) Q1: revenue beats, EPS misses; North America slows. Jul 30, 2026 Market News FMPRentokil (RTO) Q1: revenue beats, EPS misses; North America slows. Rentokil Initial PLC (NYSE:RTO) quarterly earnings: revenue beats, EPS misses amid North American slowdown. * Revenue Performance: Rentokil Initial PLC (NYSE:RTO) reported strong revenue of $3.59 billion, surpassing analyst expectations for its recent quarterly earnings. * EPS Miss: Despite robust revenue growth, the company's earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.39, falling short of analyst predictions, indicating lower-than-expected profitability. * North American Challenges: Slowing momentum in the crucial North American pest control market led Rentokil Initial PLC to abandon its 20% operating margin target for 2027, shifting its investment strategy. Rentokil Initial PLC (NYSE:RTO) is a global leader in pest control and other business services. The company competes with firms like Rollins (NYSE:ROL) in the crucial North American market. Rentokil Initial PLC recently announced its latest quarterly earnings report, which presented a mixed financial picture for investors, leading to significant market reaction. The company's revenue for the quarter reached $3.59 billion, surpassing the consensus estimate of $3.53 billion. This figure represents a 4.5% increase for the first half of the year. Revenue is the total amount of money a company generates from its sales before any expenses are deducted. However, Rentokil Initial PLC's earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.39, missing the analyst estimate of $0.66. EPS is a company's profit divided by its number of common shares, indicating profitability per share. The miss suggests that the company's profit was lower than what financial experts had predicted for the quarter. Despite the revenue beat, investors focused on slowing momentum in the North American pest-control business, where growth slowed to 2.4% in the second quarter. As highlighted by Proactive Investors, the company also notes some weakness in residential customer leads, a concern also recently mentioned by its U.S. rival Rollins. In response to these challenges, Rentokil Initial PLC abandons its target for North America's operating margin to reach 20% by 2027. The company now prioritizes investment and volume growth over short-term margin goals. Despite this, Rentokil Initial PLC maintains its forecast for full-year profit to meet market expectations.
