Republic Services unveils fully electric residential recycling and waste collection fleet in Florida. "We're excited to bring curbside recycling back to Coconut Creek, and in true Coconut Creek fashion, we're having some fun with it," Coconut Creek Mayor Jeffrey Wasserman says. "We're kicking things off with a handful of community events that bring our residents together while showcasing the creativity and our innovative spirit that make our city so special" The fleet serving Coconut Creek includes six McNeilus Volterra electric refuse and recycling collection vehicles. The trucks include 360-degree camera systems, enhanced driver visibility, lane-departure sensors, automated emergency braking and audible alerts designed to improve awareness for pedestrians and nearby motorists. The new fleet aims to deliver quieter collection operations throughout Coconut Creek while maintaining recycling and waste collection services. Republic Services says it operates North America's largest electric collection fleet, and the Coconut Creek electric vehicle (EV) fleet highlights how collaboration between municipalities and industry can help bring innovative, sustainable solutions to communities they serve. Waste management firm Republic Services trades at 28.2x forward P/E despite underwhelming performance. The company's annual sales growth of 4.2% over the past two years lagged industry peers, whilst flat unit sales suggest it may need to cut prices to accelerate growth. Wall Street estimates indicate continued weakness, with projected growth of just 4.8% over the next year. In contrast, pest control provider Rollins demonstrated exceptional revenue growth of 11.3% annually over five years, with market share gains and a robust free cash flow margin of 16.1%. The company's gross margin of 52.2% reflects its mission-critical offerings. Karat Packaging, a distributor of disposable foodservice packaging, posted 9.8% annual sales growth over two years. Its earnings per share grew 25.7% annually during this period, outpacing revenue growth.

Republic Services reports increased Q2 revenue. The company has updated its full-year financial guidance, increasing revenue to $17.2 billion to $17.3 billion. Published August 07, 2026 Pheonix-based Republic Services Inc. has announced its second-quarter financial results, reporting a net income of $566 million for the three months that ended June 30. The company's second-quarter net income compares to $550 million during the same period in 2025. "Our second quarter results reflect the strength and resilience of our business model as we continue to execute our strategy and deliver differentiated value for our customers," says Jon Vander Ark, Republic Services president and CEO. "Pricing in excess of cost inflation and our disciplined cost management supported accelerated growth in revenue and EBITDA. Given our strong operating performance and momentum across the business, we are increasing our full-year financial guidance." The company says its total revenue growth of 4.6 percent includes 3.7 percent organic growth from its recycling and waste business, a 0.2 percent decline from its environmental solutions business and 1.1 percent growth from acquisitions. Republic Services says its year-to-date cash invested in acquisitions was $860 million, and year-to-date cash returned to shareholders was $1.04 billion, which included $651 million of share repurchases and $385 million of dividends paid. The company's average recycled commodity price per ton sold at its recycling centers during the second quarter was $136. This represents a decrease of $13 per ton over the prior year.
