Revalia Bio

Revalia Bio

Ex vivo organ research platform services

Overview

Revalia Bio uses an ex vivo human organ research platform to provide contract research services for the biopharmaceutical industry. The platform lets researchers study human organs outside the body in a controlled setting, enabling evaluation of drug targets, optimization of lead compounds, and preclinical development across diseases like cancer, cardiovascular, and infectious diseases. Unlike traditional models that rely on non-human systems, Revalia Bio focuses on human organ tissue to generate data that can faster inform drug development. The company differentiates itself through its specialized ex vivo organ platform and services (target validation, lead optimization, preclinical studies) offered as contract research. Its goal is to shorten the drug development timeline and reduce costs by providing human-organ–based testing to pharmaceutical and biotech clients.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Revalia said it quadrupled revenue since 2023 and signed two top pharma customers.
  • The December 2025 ARPA-H award brings up to $26.7 million and government validation.
  • FDA’s April 2025 animal-testing phaseout directly supports Revalia’s human-relevant testing platform.

What critics are saying

  • Top pharma customers remain unnamed, making revenue concentration and renewal risk hard to judge.
  • Revalia’s platform depends on scarce donor organs and complex logistics, limiting scale through 2027.
  • If FDA adoption stalls after 2025, pharma returns to cheaper CROs and animal-testing incumbents.

What makes Revalia Bio unique

  • Revalia’s Human Data Trials use donated human organs, not animal models, for preclinical testing.
  • The company combines whole-organ perfusion, organoids, and organ-on-chip data into one translational stack.
  • ARPA-H’s December 2025 CATALYST contract made Revalia a technical lead in human-first drug modeling.

Revalia Bio wins $26.7M ARPA-H contract to advance human-first drug trials

Revalia Bio has been awarded a contract worth up to $26.7 million from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to advance drug development using human data trials. The New Haven-based company will serve as technical lead for the project under ARPA-H's CATALYST programme. Revalia will develop AI-driven models trained on Human Data Trials, which use living systems derived from donated human organs, organ-on-chip platforms and multimodal datasets. The approach aims to reduce reliance on animal testing and better predict drug behaviour in humans, potentially cutting late-stage failures and accelerating therapy development. The company's Human Data Trial platform transforms donated organs into actionable insights for drug safety and efficacy predictions before clinical trials. CEO Greg Tietjen described the award as validation that "the era for human data is here".
