RRobeaute is a Paris-based medical technology company that develops microrobotic platforms for neurosurgery. It focuses on creating tiny robotic tools that can be used to diagnose, treat, and monitor brain conditions with high precision. The microrobots are designed to be minimally invasive, enabling access to difficult-to-reach areas of the brain for various therapeutic and diagnostic applications. The team blends robotics expertise from Bertrand Duplat and leadership from Joana Cartocci, reflecting a multidisciplinary, multilingual approach that aims to push the boundaries of surgical tech. The company’s goal is to provide safer, more precise brain procedures and expand capabilities for neurosurgical diagnosis, intervention, and post-operative monitoring.

INBRAIN reports data from MINIGRAPH project for brain disorders. The project combined thin-film graphene probes with implantable microelectronics, autonomous software, and surgical delivery system. Clinical-stage company INBRAIN Neuroelectronics has reported outcomes from the Minimally Invasive Neuromodulation Implant and implantation procedure based on ground-breaking GRAPHene technology for treating brain disorders (MINIGRAPH) project. The MINIGRAPH project is funded by the European Innovation Council. The initiative focused on Parkinson's disease as its first therapeutic target. It combined thin-film cortical and subcortical graphene probes with implantable microelectronics, autonomous software, and a minimally invasive surgical delivery system. The platform aims to improve deep brain stimulation by recording neural activity, interpreting signals, and delivering responsive neuromodulation. Nanoflex Robotics and ETH Zurich created the interventional system, which uses remote magnetic navigation and an adapted magnetic carrier. The platform directs implants along straight and curved paths under X-ray guidance. Researchers confirmed the surgical approach through in vitro tests and in vivo evaluations in a large animal model. INBRAIN co-founder and chief scientific officer Jose Garrido said: "As BCI technologies move toward patients, making them available to more people will depend not only on its ability to manufacture advanced devices, but also on developing precise and reproducible ways to implant them. "MINIGRAPH brought together the neural interface, intelligent electronics, autonomous software and robotics as a single integrated system. This work helps build the foundation for autonomous neurotherapeutics that can decode neural activity and deliver precise neuromodulation that can be accessible to more patients at scale." During the project, the consortium validated an integrated implantable prototype in a translational model. Accelerated ageing assessments showed projected electrode stability exceeding 10 years, alongside cellular and molecular studies that examined biocompatibility and toxicity. The accompanying hardware decodes signals across hundreds of neural sites to enable automated stimulation. ICN2 - Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology coordinated the consortium. Alongside INBRAIN Neuroelectronics, ETH Zurich, and Nanoflex Robotics, the participating organisations included Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, imec, Leiden University Medical Center, and Palacký University Olomouc. INBRAIN Neuroelectronics is also working with Robeauté to examine microrobotic methods for neural device placement. Give your business an edge with its leading industry insights.
A French startup, Robeauté, has raised approximately $29 million to develop a groundbreaking neurosurgical microrobot. This rice-sized device is designed to navigate the brain's complex pathways, potentially transforming the treatment of brain tumors and other conditions by making brain surgery safer and less invasive.
A French start-up, Robeauté, has raised €27 million to develop a rice-sized neurosurgical microrobot. This device aims to enhance precision in neurosurgery by navigating the brain while avoiding high-risk areas. Clinical trials are set for 2026, focusing on brain tumor biopsies. The microrobot uses AI and imaging for real-time navigation and may also aid in treating Parkinson's disease. Approval is expected by 2030, with plans to expand to the US for FDA approval.
