ADD607 (Image: Rohde & Schwarz) Munich, 14.10.2026 - The new ADD607 from Rohde & Schwarz meets the evolving needs of spectrum regulators and military spectrum managers. The compact direction-finding (DF) antenna is vital to mobile monitoring systems in high-density signal environments. An integrated active-passive switch prevents signal overload but is still able to pick up weak signals. The antenna unifies HF to SHF hardware in a single unit to streamline field operations and improve rapid response. Unlike traditional setups that use multiple antennas to cover different frequency bands, the ADD607 provides seamless coverage from 9 MHz to 20 GHz in a single unit, drastically simplifying logistics and installation and speeding up field deployments. The antenna delivers top-of-the-line performance in a compact and lightweight design. The patented VHF-range antenna structure detects the weakest signals and provides superior coverage where it is needed most. The ADD607 has an integrated active-passive switch and can adapt to signal environments with a single click; very important when strong interfering signals (mobile phone base stations) overwhelm standard monitoring equipment. The switch is immune to interfering signals and enables precise measurements in dense urban environments that were once difficult to navigate. R&S introduces RF power transfer standards up to 170 GHz. Rohde & Schwarz introduces passive R&S NTS thermoelectric RF power transfer standards for traceable measurements up to 170 GHz, offering a modern alternative to thermistor mount standards. October 13, 2026 Accurate power measurement is essential for industrial manufacturing, quality control and regulatory compliance. International quality standards, product liability rules and environmental regulations require measuring instruments to undergo regular calibration with traceability to national standards. Thermistor mount standards have long been used as references for traceable RF power measurements. However, production of new units has been discontinued for years, leaving users without replacement components or support for emerging frequency ranges, including the D-band. Designed to replace obsolete thermistor standards. This is exactly where the R&S NTS product family from Rohde & Schwarz comes into play: it provides direct, high-performance replacement for thermistor mounts. Its compact form factor fits seamlessly into existing microcalorimeter setups without requiring additional base units. The sensors connect directly to commercially available, traceably calibrated DC nanovoltmeters, allowing laboratories to continue using familiar measurement workflows. At the same time, Rohde & Schwarz offers dedicated software support to simplify the transition from thermistor-based standards to modern thermoelectric technology. Proven thermoelectric technology for metrology-grade accuracy. The thermoelectric power detector chip in R&S NTS was developed specifically for metrological RF-DC substitution. Its technology builds on more than two decades of proven Rohde & Schwarz experience with R&S NRP power sensors, refined for the highest accuracy requirements. The transducer features two highly symmetrical RF and DC heaters that ensure near-perfect RF-DC substitution. Optimized heater design delivers excellent linearity, with operating-point influence on the calibration factor reduced to the PPM-per-milliwatt range. Outstanding RF properties such as excellent impedance matching and an extremely flat frequency response minimize uncertainty across the entire operating range. A high maximum input power of +20 dBm and fast settling times further enhance usability in precision calibration environments. Additional design details underline the metrology focus: a 4-wire DC heater connection for precise power substitution, low-impedance DC lines to minimize parasitic heating losses, and an integrated temperature sensor to compensate even the smallest thermal effects. Moreover, all models feature a robust push pull DC connector, low thermal mass and optional electronic device identification for automated calibration workflows. A complete solution for the calibration hierarchy. At launch, the R&S NTS family includes multiple coaxial models from DC to 67 GHz and a waveguide model up to 170 GHz with a WR 6.5 connector. Special open, short and mismatched variants are available to support microcalorimeter correction factor determination. Pakistan upgrades spectrum monitoring network as 5G rollout raises interference risks. Usama Anjum Last Updated: Oct 2, 2026 Pakistan is moving to strengthen oversight of its radio frequency spectrum as the country enters the 5G era, with the Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) upgrading its nationwide monitoring network to improve interference detection and supervision of wireless services. The modernization initiative is aimed at equipping FAB's regional monitoring network with advanced technologies capable of tracking increasingly complex spectrum use associated with 5G and other emerging wireless technologies. As part of the upgrade, FAB signed a contract with global spectrum monitoring and measurement systems manufacturer Rohde & Schwarz in August for the supply of advanced spectrum monitoring receivers and network scanners. The new equipment will be installed at strategic locations across FAB's regional monitoring network, expanding geographical coverage and improving the authority's ability to monitor radio frequency activity across the country. According to the available information, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to help authorities identify unauthorized or problematic spectrum use more effectively while enabling faster detection and mitigation of harmful interference. The need for stronger monitoring capabilities is becoming more significant as Pakistan introduces new frequency bands, services, and wireless technologies associated with 5G. The transition is expected to increase the complexity of spectrum management and place greater demands on regulatory and technical monitoring systems. FAB, which is responsible for managing Pakistan's radio frequency spectrum, has been working to integrate 5G-capable monitoring technologies into its infrastructure to keep pace with changes in the telecommunications sector. The upgraded systems are also expected to strengthen regulatory oversight of wireless services and support more efficient utilization of the country's limited spectrum resources. The contract with Rohde & Schwarz represents another step in the modernisation of Pakistan's spectrum monitoring framework as authorities prepare for the growing technical demands of next-generation wireless networks. As radars become more agile and use more complex waveforms, test systems must measure pulse shape, timing, modulation and repeatability. The FSWX signal and spectrum analyzer addresses this test environment with its innovative dual-channel, phase-coherent architecture. These measurements allow engineers to check whether a jammer reproduces the envelope of the original radar burst with the required accuracy, since small changes in timing or amplitude behavior can affect the credibility of a deception signal. The analysis also covers complete pulse trains. The option extracts pulse repetition frequency spectra and pulse-to-pulse variation data, allowing engineers to verify complex pulse sequence behavior and timing patterns. R&S FSWX-KM700 supports chirped pulses, pulse width modulation, pulse position modulation and phase-modulated waveforms. Engineers can use these measurements to check whether a device handles modulation schemes used by modern radar systems, including both the pulse envelope and modulation content. The system can trigger on amplitude, pulse width, pulse repetition interval or user-defined patterns. This helps engineers isolate selected events inside a pulse train and focus the measurement on the relevant parts of the signal. For longer measurements, R&S FSWX-KM700 aggregates results from many captured pulses. This provides information about repeatability and consistency over time and helps engineers assess whether timing or modulation errors occur only under certain conditions. The option comes with the following displays: parameter trend for DRFM electronic attack technique analysis, capture vs. time to measure jammer response time and latency between stimulus and response, individual pulse parameter display such as pulse amplitude, frequency, and phase to make sure there are no distortions introduced by the jammer. These measurements connect pulse analysis with the behavior of the jammer under test. With the new R&S FSWX-KM700 option, the FSWX signal and spectrum analyzer gains a more specialized role in DRFM test workflows. It combines phase coherent multi-channel analysis with pulse, pulse train, modulation and segmented capture functions in one instrument, supporting verification of signal fidelity, timing behavior and consistency in agile electronic warfare scenarios.
