Rystad Energy Innovate: a new vision for energy intelligence in the AI era. Rystad Energy AS 3 mins read Spektra reaches full commercial launch at Rystad Energy Innovate on 20 August 2026. Oslo, Norway, Aug. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Rystad Energy will set out a new vision for energy intelligence in the AI era at Innovate, an online broadcast on 20 August 2026. The event marks the full commercial launch of Spektra, Rystad Energy's AI-native market intelligence platform, and is open to clients and the market. The way the energy industry accesses and uses data is changing. Spektra launched in beta in June 2026, giving clients access to a platform that brings Rystad Energy's full commercial databases into a single workspace. Users can create unlimited workspaces to suit their workflows, bringing together data from multiple datasets, eliminating the need to switch between tools. Innovate is the moment Spektra moves to full commercial availability, and the complete story is told publicly for the first time. For two decades, Rystad Energy has built the data the energy industry runs on. Spektra is the next step: a single system that combines powerful data exploration in web-based workspaces, plus MCP connectors and an API gateway, giving energy professionals the flexibility to access and integrate Rystad Energy data in the way that works best for them. The platform draws on millions of energy assets globally, including 85,000+ oil and gas fields, more than 2 million wells, and 200,000+ conventional and renewable energy power plants, all independently sourced and verified. "Energy markets are becoming more complex, and the demand for faster, more reliable intelligence is only growing. Spektra is built for that new reality and is designed around how energy professionals actually work, giving swift and flexible access to the most reliable energy data in the industry. The platform is easy and intuitive to use, but also with the depth needed for the most sophisticated users. At Innovate, we will show what Rystad Energy's reinvention as an AI-native data platform means in practice, and where we are taking energy intelligence next," said Lars Eirik Nicolaisen, Deputy CEO, Rystad Energy. At Innovate, Rystad Energy will demonstrate the full AI ecosystem live: AskRystad, MCP and the Microsoft 365 Copilot integration, alongside how the data now reaches directly into the tools the industry already uses. Clients who shaped Spektra will take the stage, sharing how the platform has changed the way they work. Partner integrations with HSBC, SLB, Quorum and FutureOn will show how Rystad Energy data reaches the operational tools the industry depends on. "Energy professionals need trusted intelligence they can act on quickly. By bringing Rystad Energy's proprietary data into Microsoft 365 Copilot through MCP, we are integrating two decades of industry expertise directly into their flow of work. The result is faster access to critical insights, more informed decisions, and greater business impact across the organizations that rely on this intelligence," said Per Christian Honningsvåg, General Manager, Energy and Resources, Microsoft. Rystad Energy Innovate takes place on Thursday, 20 August 2026, broadcast from the Rystad Energy Oslo studio. The event is open to clients and the market. Register now. Rystad Energy launches Spektra: the next-generation market intelligence platform, shaped by the clients who use it. New AI-native platform draws on 20+ years of proprietary energy data and was built and refined through a pilot program with 78 client companies. Oslo, June 29, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Rystad Energy, a leading independent energy intelligence company, today announced the launch of Spektra, an entirely new AI-native platform that enables energy professionals to access, analyze and share energy data faster and more intuitively than ever. Web-based, lightning fast and designed around real-world advanced workflows, Spektra brings every Rystad Energy dataset into a single collaborative workspace, eliminating friction across the entire research process. Energy professionals who rely on market intelligence have long faced familiar frustrations: data spread across multiple tools, slow load times and interfaces not built around how analysts, traders and financial decision-makers actually work. The time-cost of these inefficiencies is real but often unrealized - and Spektra is built to change that. With built-in AI and API capabilities, and seamless integration with tools like Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude via open MCP standards, it has never been easier to access Rystad Energy's world-class data. "Reliable decision-making starts with better data and powerful tools. Spektra brings both of those qualities together in an intelligent platform that is fast, flexible and tailored to real workflows. It draws on 20 years of proprietary data, and integrated AI features allow users to interrogate our data in entirely new ways. The result is a platform that will help professionals navigate the future of energy with ease," said Jarand Rystad, founder and CEO of Rystad Energy. Spektra was developed and refined in close collaboration with our clients, including 78 of the world's leading energy companies, financial institutions and government agencies. Spektra runs entirely in the browser, meaning no installation or IT dependencies, and it works seamlessly across laptops, tablets and on mobile. Workspaces can incorporate multiple datasets and are shared by link, enabling easier collaboration and eliminating the need to switch between tools. Built on more than 20 years of independent research, Spektra draws on one of the energy sector's most comprehensive data universes, including 85,000 oil and gas fields, more than 2 million wells, 200,000+ power and renewables assets, and 15,000+ data centers, all independently sourced and verified. Feedback from users during the pilot phase was highly enthusiastic, with the platform's enhanced speed, stability and ease of use the most consistently cited improvements. Once users tried Spektra, many said there was no going back. "Interactive and straightforward," Middle East national oil company "This is the holy grail," global investment bank "Very user-friendly - I was able to learn how to navigate the platform in just a few minutes," Fortune 500 industrial company Today's beta launch is another step in the broader evolution of how clients interact with Rystad Energy. Geothermal shifts from potential to delivery at WGC 2026. Rystad successful Market Briefing Breakfast (source: Rystad Energy) A joint Rystad Energy and ThinkGeoEnergy briefing at WGC 2026 highlighted how geothermal is moving from market potential to project delivery. A joint breakfast briefing hosted by Rystad Energy and ThinkGeoEnergy during the World Geothermal Congress 2026 in Calgary highlighted how the geothermal sector is entering a new phase, one increasingly defined by project execution rather than market awareness. Held on the sidelines of the congress, the breakfast meeting brought together industry leaders, investors, developers, and technology providers to discuss the findings of the recently published report, Geothermal at an Inflection Point: Market Dynamics, Technology Evolution, and Growth Pathways. The event marked the culmination of discussions between Rystad Energy and ThinkGeoEnergy that have taken place over the past two years through industry conferences, market discussions, and ongoing engagement with stakeholders across the geothermal sector. Those conversations ultimately led to a collaboration on a joint market report and the organisation of the breakfast briefing in Calgary, graciously lead by Rystad Energy. Bringing together complementary perspectives. While Rystad Energy contributes a global energy market perspective backed by extensive data and market intelligence, ThinkGeoEnergy brings nearly two decades of close engagement with geothermal projects, companies, investors, and policymakers worldwide. The objective of the collaboration was to combine these perspectives and provide a realistic assessment of where the geothermal market stands today and what factors will determine its future growth. "We're proud to have co-published Geothermal at an Inflection Point: Market Dynamics, Technology Evolution, and Growth Pathways," said Henning Bjorvik, Partner and Head of Renewables Research at Rystad Energy. "The report bridges market intelligence and on-the-ground industry insight to give a fuller picture of where geothermal stands today." The report concludes that geothermal is gaining strategic relevance as global energy markets increasingly seek firm, low-carbon solutions for both power generation and heating applications. Demand drivers continue to strengthen. Several themes discussed during the breakfast session reflected the report's findings. Electricity demand continues to grow rapidly, driven by data centres, digital infrastructure, electrification, and industrial expansion. At the same time, governments, utilities, and industrial users are seeking reliable energy sources that can support decarbonisation objectives while strengthening energy security. Participants also discussed how improvements in drilling performance, reservoir understanding, project development models, and financing structures are helping improve project economics and attract new sources of capital. On the heating side, geothermal is attracting increasing attention as municipalities and utilities seek alternatives to volatile fossil fuel markets and look for pathways to decarbonise district heating systems. These developments are contributing to a growing perception that geothermal is becoming increasingly bankable across both conventional and next-generation geothermal projects. Industry perspectives from across the value chain. A panel discussion brought together representatives from across the geothermal ecosystem. Attendees heard insights from Fervo Energy on the company's recent initial public offering, as well as perspectives from RBC Capital Markets, which has played a key role in geothermal project financing and acted as a joint bookrunner on the Fervo IPO. Additional contributions came from FutEra Power, which shared perspectives on geothermal development opportunities in Canada, and from Ormat Technologies, which discussed market developments, enhanced geothermal systems (EGS), and the role of technology innovation in scaling geothermal deployment. The discussion reinforced a recurring theme emerging throughout the World Geothermal Congress: the foundations for geothermal growth have strengthened considerably, but successful delivery remains the industry's primary challenge. From visibility to implementation. The report notes that geothermal's momentum is being supported by stronger policy frameworks, improving project finance structures, and increasing recognition of the technology's ability to provide both clean electricity and low-carbon heat. However, project development remains highly dependent on local conditions, regulatory frameworks, permitting timelines, drilling performance, and access to financing. As a result, growth is unlikely to be uniform across regions or technologies. The consensus emerging from both the report and the Calgary discussion was clear. The geothermal sector has largely moved beyond proving its relevance. The focus is increasingly shifting toward delivering projects at scale and translating growing market interest into installed capacity. ThinkGeoEnergy extends its thanks to Rystad Energy, particularly Henning Bjorvik, Alexandra Gerken, Shruti Raghuram and the wider Rystad team, for the collaborative effort behind both the report and the event. Appreciation is also extended to the panelists and participants who contributed their time and perspectives during a busy week at the World Geothermal Congress. It has been an absolute pleasure Alexander Richter
