Overview

Salt Lake City is the municipal government serving Utah's capital city. Its departments provide public safety, transportation, water, planning, housing, parks, recreation, sustainability, economic development and other local services for residents, businesses and visitors. Elected officials set policy while professional employees operate infrastructure, administer programs and enforce local requirements. As an employer, the city spans public administration, engineering, field operations and community service rather than representing a commercial company or a single municipal department.
