Daily business report: June 19, 2026.

Daily business report: June 19, 2026. By Nina Joudeh | NY Times Stress levels beneath Southern California's two most dangerous fault systems have climbed to their highest in at least 1,000 years, prompting fresh concerns that the long-feared "Big One" may be drawing closer. The alarming findings come from a new study from AGU Journal examining the San Andreas and San Jacinto fault systems, in which researchers found that tectonic stress has reached levels not seen in a millennium. Scientists can't predict when a major earthquake will happen; however, the study shows that geological conditions for a potentially catastrophic earthquake are becoming more noticeable. by San Diego County Fair To help San Diegans who want to spend their Juneteenth holiday at the San Diego County Fair, the North County Transit District and San Diego Metropolitan Transit System have partnered to offer a special holiday discount on the 'Fair Tripper' pass to the Fair. The Fair Tripper is already a great deal, combining Fair admission and round-trip transit into one pass. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the Fair Tripper costs $23 or $20 for youth tickets. And on most Fridays-Sundays, the Fair Tripper costs $28. This combination ticket allows Fair guests to beat traffic and save up to 40%. But on Friday, June 19, San Diegans can buy round-trip transportation on NCTD's COASTER, SPRINTER or BREEZE and/or MTS trolley or bus - plus Fair admission - for only $19 for adults and $17 for youth. That is less than the price of Fair admission alone on Friday. The Fair offers free, round-trip shuttle service to and from Solana Beach Station for those with a Fair Tripper ticket. Tickets can be purchased on June 19 on the Pronto App or at transit vending machines. A full list of Fair value deals can be found at sdfair.com/deals. by Prix Versailles San Diego International Airport's (SAN) new Terminal 1 has been named to the World's Most Beautiful Airports List 2026 by Prix Versailles, the prestigious international award program that recognizes outstanding contemporary architecture and design. Terminal 1 was one of only two U.S. airports and one of seven airports worldwide selected for the 2026 list. "We are incredibly honored that our new Terminal 1 has received this prestigious international Prix Versailles recognition," said Atif Saeed, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. "The vision, creativity, and dedication of the New Terminal 1 team resulted in a terminal that reflects the spirit and character of San Diego. Our goal was to deliver an airport experience that authentically represents our region while providing exceptional service to travelers. This global recognition affirms that vision and helps showcase San Diego to the world." Designed by Gensler, Terminal 1 was completed in September 2025 and replaces the original 1960's terminal. It draws its identity from San Diego's landscape of canyons, sea, and sky, expressed through commissioned art installations, angled ceiling forms, mosaic glass details, and an outdoor terrace offering sweeping views across the city. Locally inspired dining and retail shops further enhance the customer experience and reinforce a strong sense of place.
