College Board and Schoolhouse.world Launch Free Peer-to-Peer SAT Tutoring

College Board and Schoolhouse.world launch free peer-to-peer SAT tutoring. Partnership expands free SAT practice resources by adding Schoolhouse online bootcamps for personalized small-group support SAT(R) test takers around the world can now access free, small-group SAT tutoring through a new partnership between not-for-profit College Board and nonprofit Schoolhouse.world, a peer-to-peer tutoring platform founded by Khan Academy(R) creator Sal Khan. Through Schoolhouse, students will have expanded access to high-quality SAT preparation using materials directly from the makers of the SAT with peer-led tutoring that complements and strengthens the SAT Suite's (SAT Weekend, SAT School Day, PSAT/NMSQT(R), PSAT(TM) 10, and PSAT(TM) 8/9) already extensive selection of free practice tools. Building on the long-standing partnership with Khan Academy and shared commitment to free practice, the Schoolhouse program reflects College Board's mission to expand access, support academic growth, and help all students reach their full potential. During the pilot, Schoolhouse delivered 30,000 SAT bootcamps to 118,000 learners, bringing personalized, interactive, and community-driven practice to students everywhere. "Our partnership with Schoolhouse adds a powerful new dimension to SAT preparation," said Priscilla Rodriguez, College Board's senior vice president of College Readiness Assessments. "Every student, regardless of family income, deserves access to high-quality SAT practice so on test day they can walk in feeling confident and prepared to show what they've learned in the foundational areas of reading, writing, and math. And now all students can learn alongside their peers in a collaborative, supportive environment at no cost, removing a financial barrier that puts paid test prep out of reach for many families." "We wanted every student to have access to free SAT tutoring, regardless of their background," said Matt Wu, president and COO of Schoolhouse. "Learning in small groups with trained peer tutors makes test prep feel more human and less intimidating, while helping students stay motivated and accountable. Students build confidence for test day, and some are even empowered to give back by tutoring the next group of learners themselves." How peer-to-peer tutoring works. The peer-to-peer tutoring program offers students a structured, 4-week bootcamp led by peer tutors - high school students and recent graduates who have earned a verified score of 700 or higher on either the SAT Math or SAT Reading and Writing section and completed a certification program. Students can sign up for bootcamps in one or both SAT sections. In small groups of typically 5-10 learners, students work to strengthen their test-taking skills, build their confidence, and get ready for test day using official SAT practice content from College Board. "I wanted to learn from a tutor because I wanted to raise my scores for [a scholarship program] for college," said Hailey, a Schoolhouse learner. "Both of my tutors were extremely helpful and kind. I learned a lot from the tutoring, and I applied it to my SAT and I am 99% positive that it helped my score!" "Ever since I've found Schoolhouse, I was able to share my knowledge with other students my age for free," said Rushil, a Schoolhouse tutor. "I really like how Schoolhouse is really easy to navigate, which makes it easy to tutor. Although I was scared to tutor before, Schoolhouse made me more comfortable in speaking to people and teaching others what I know." Tutoring sessions take place online, with tutors guiding students through a curriculum aligned to SAT content and official practice materials. The sessions also include concept review, strategies, and real SAT questions from past tests. Each four-week bootcamp includes multiple practice tests, opportunities to discuss problem-solving approaches, and support designed to build confidence heading into test day. Pilot program results. Since 2022, more than 118,000 learners have registered for pilot Schoolhouse SAT bootcamps, with internal research indicating positive effects on students' confidence and growth mindset. Survey data also indicate that peer tutoring increases overall practice time for many students and can help engage students who might not otherwise prepare formally for the SAT. Related College Board research shows that working through College Board's official SAT practice tests is associated with higher scores. Both tutors and students have reported high levels of satisfaction with the peer-tutoring program. SAT Suite free practice resources.
