SL5 Task Force develops practical security standards to protect frontier AI from nation-state threats. It delivers the SL5 Standard, an overlay of existing frameworks (such as NIST SP 800-53 and ICD 705) that translates into concrete technical controls and guidance, organized through two tracks (Executive and Technical) and specialized working groups. Unlike others, it combines policymakers, AI labs, national security leaders, and industry partners in a multistakeholder effort and emphasizes actionable steps and cost-benefit analysis to enable rapid adoption, including prototyping like the Project MoAT datacenter and AI705 studies. Its goal is nation-state grade protection for frontier AI and to build a functional prototype datacenter with leading AI labs by 2026.
