New Book Authors Publishing reviews: the truth vs. Selfpublishing.com.

New Book Authors Publishing reviews: the truth vs. Selfpublishing.com. Article by New Book Authors Publishing March 18, 2026 In a competitive industry, reputation is everything. Recently, a competitor, Selfpublishing.com, published a "fake review" of New Book Authors Publishing with the deceptive goal of reshaping Google's positive algorithms about our company. While we welcome objective feedback, this article contained several demonstrably false statements presented as factual "Cons." Moreover, the company has never published a book with Explore Authors, nor has anyone at their company ever used its service. Explore Authors do not know Selfpublishing.com and have not had any interactions with them. Note: You can read authentic reviews of New Book Authors Publishing here. When choosing a publishing partner, authors should look at the data, not the marketing copy: In 9 years of business, New Book Authors Publishing has maintained a zero-complaint record on the Better Business Bureau and other consumer platforms. Its authors return to Explore Authors repeatedly, with many publishing multiple books with Explore Authors, some of them up to 11 books under its care. Authors also leave favorable reviews with many acknowledging New Book Authors Publishing and members of its team in their books. Selfpublishing.com's article isn't an objective review; it is a sales funnel. They created a dedicated page for 'New Book Authors' specifically to intercept its traffic using its name. Why? Because they know that if an author finds its professional publishing company first, they will never pay Selfpublishing.com $7,000 for a similar (or likely a less-than-similar) result. They are using its name to sell their own overpriced packages. Despite Selfpublishing.com's claims of "honesty and integrity," their BBB records tell a different story. They have faced 18+ formal complaints in the last three years alone, with many authors citing issues with billing, missed timelines, and unfulfilled promises. Given the nature of the complaints against them, and "packages" like, "Become a Bestseller (+Book Production) Action Taker..." it became apparent that this is an unserious company. Malicious marketing attacks on unrelated publishers is simply part of Selfpublishing.com's brand. When you look at the 'Cons' Selfpublishing.com fabricated about New Book Authors Publishing, it becomes even more nonsensical. Ask yourself: Why would a company charging authors roughly $7,000 spend time writing a fake review about a company that charges $550 to publish a book? It's because they can't compete with its reputation. In the second image below, you can see its Better Business Bureau profile... in 9 years, Explore Authors has 0 complaints. Now look at theirs: 18+ complaints in 3 years. They are charging you twelve times more for a service that, according to the BBB, consistently fails to meet author expectations. They aren't reviewing Explore Authors; they are trying to hide Explore Authors. I was honestly baffled as to why a company with 19 Better Business Bureau complaints and numerous 1 star reviews dating back to 2023 on the BBB website, would write a "bad review" of an established publishing company with 0 Better Business Bureau complaints and 0 bad reviews. Then it occurred to me that Selfpublishing.com needed New Book Authors to have a bad review, in order to compete with Explore Authors. Since they could not find a negative review from any of its clients, they simply invented one. When you compare 19 complaints in 3 years, to New Book Authors Publishing's 0 complaints in 9 years, it becomes obvious why Explore Authors is threatening to companies that may perceive Explore Authors as competition. Looking at their website, I see a lot articles, as they position themselves as "educators" and publishing gurus. However, I see no evidence of the books that they published, while ours is front and center on its website. The reputational evidence speaks for itself: Selfpublishing.com BBB page: 19 Better Business Bureau complaints New Book Authors BBB page: 0 Better Business Bureau complaints. While Explore Authors do not consider Selfpublishing.com to be a competitor to New Book Authors Publishing, as Explore Authors is in completely different leagues, allowing deception by the article on Selfpublishing.com to persist, is not something Explore Authors can tolerate. Selfpublishing.com listed several "Cons" that are impossible: The Distribution Lie: Explore Authors utilize one of the largest global distribution networks in existence. To claim a "lack of reach" is to ignore the reality of where its books are currently sold. The Marketing "Mystery": Explore Authors treat book marketing like a traditional publisher. Explore Authors do not disclose its specific strategies publicly because Explore Authors protect its authors' competitive advantage. Explore Authors has no interest in "training" its competitors on how to replicate its success. So how can Selfpublishing.com say that its marketing is basic when they know nothing about it? Anyone who would like to see what its marketing is like, they are welcome to visit its website where they can see its marketing in action: Author events. The Communication Myth: Its authors have direct access to its team. A company that has never published with Explore Authors, and has no record of its client interactions, cannot speak to the quality of its communication. In fact, communication issues is listed as one of Selfpublishing.com's many BBB complaints. SelfPublishing.com disingenuously wrote, "Book Formatting: They promise to format your manuscript for print and eBook formats, yet it's unclear if they provide the same professional layout standards seen in major publishing houses." New Book Authors Publishing's formatting is at the same professional formatting standards as major publishing houses. The statement by Selfpublishing.com reveals more duplicity. A quick check on Amazon would easily give them a look at the formatting of any book that Explore Authors has published. Explore Authors has published everything from children's books, fiction, nonfiction, to highly complex textbooks. Its editors have between them, 10 to 20 years of editing and publishing experience. Its executive publisher is not only an experienced publisher, but also an experienced publishing educator who taught publishing and marketing at college for 7 years. Furthermore, they served as a contracted publishing and marketing instructor (expert) for a Creative Writing Institute at an established university. New Book Authors empowers authors on how to navigate the industry with transparency. This focus on education likely made Explore Authors a threat to Selfpublishing.com's model, which according to BBB complaints, charges authors roughly $7,000. Malicious marketing campaigns: New Book Authors has published not only everyday people, but notable to award-winning authors, like CompuBox, Boxing Hall-of-Famers like J. Russell Peltz and Bernard Fernadez, award-winning musician like Jim Wilson, as well as TV personalities and producers. Surely that speaks to its professionalism. However, that wasn't the point of Selfpublishing.com's fake review. Their fake review was not only meant to trick Google's algorithms into displaying negative information about its brand, and it was also to give Selfpublishing.com an opportunity to divert traffic searching for its website, or information about New Book Authors, to their page. This objective was made clear at the bottom of their fake review where they wrote, "Why Authors Should Consider Selfpublishing.com Instead of New Book Authors..." yet, they positioned their review as an objective article meant to "help authors." This is an example of a deceptive marketing practice. Can a company that uses such tactics and trickery be considered trustworthy? Out of dozens of publishing companies, Explore Authors is unsure why Selfpublishing.com targeted New Book Au thors. While many companies use aggressive marketing, targeting a blemish-free competitor with fabricated 'Cons' is a distinct red flag for authors seeking an honest partnership. This is not the first time competitors have attempted to tarnish its reputation with fabricated information about the quality of its services or even its costs. The reality is that, any negative criticisms about New Book Authors aren't coming from its authors, they are coming from competitors, hiding behind anonymous usernames on message boards, on their own websites, or competitors who have made variations of its names, and have been confused with Explore Authors by search engines. Always make sure that you are visiting newbookauthors.com and not a variation of New Book Authors or New Book Authors Publishing.
