Sensat

Digital twin platform for civil infrastructure

Overview

SenSat builds a digital twin and visualization platform for civil infrastructure to digitize physical sites and integrate project data for remote collaboration. Its SaaS platform ingests live construction information and reality capture data (drone and 3D scans) to create a shared digital environment for visualization, management, and simulation of projects. The system emphasizes rapid reality capture and civil-infrastructure–focused digital twins linked to project data in a common data environment to support remote collaboration, risk identification, and data-driven decisions. The goal is to digitize the physical world and automate how civil infrastructure is planned, built, and managed, helping teams deliver projects on time and within budget.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Mercia-led funding in May 2026 finances US expansion and Milton Keynes hiring.
  • Customers now include National Grid, Avangrid, and SP Energy Networks.
  • The January 2026 product update positions Sensat for faster decisions on multi-billion-pound projects.

What critics are saying

  • Mercia's May 2026 £3 million round signals small scale and continued funding dependence.
  • Heavy concentration in National Grid exposes revenue if that portfolio shrinks in 2026.
  • CDE incumbents and Autodesk can bundle visualization into broader workflows, compressing Sensat's niche.

What makes Sensat unique

  • Sensat's January 2026 spatial data engine targets GPS-lag in infrastructure twins.
  • National Grid expanded Sensat across major projects in December 2025, not just pilots.
  • Its agentic geospatial AI queries complex project data in natural language.

Sensat raises $3.8M to build agentic geospatial AI for infrastructure decision-making

Geospatial AI specialist Sensat has secured £3 million in investment to develop agentic geospatial AI and expand operations into the US. The funding round was led by Mercia Ventures. The company is building specialised AI agents that allow users to query complex infrastructure data using natural language, moving beyond traditional data visualisation. The technology aims to make digital twins "inherently intelligent and spatially aware", automating multi-stage processes for faster decision-making on major infrastructure projects. Co-founder Harry Atkinson said the investment marks Sensat's transition into a mission-critical infrastructure partner, enabling users to identify risks and assess scenarios in hours rather than weeks. The company will open an office in Milton Keynes whilst targeting North American infrastructure modernisation projects. Current customers include National Grid, Avangrid and SP Energy Networks.
