Skylo Technologies

Skylo Technologies

Satellite connectivity provider for remote areas

Overview

Skylo Technologies provides satellite-based connectivity to extend coverage for existing devices, enabling constant communication in remote locations. By partnering with established satellite providers, Skylo uses their capacity to deliver a cohesive network without building its own satellites, offering connectivity to industries like energy, logistics, and healthcare. How it works: Skylo resells or bundles satellite capacity from partner networks to customers, delivering a two-way GPS and messaging service so remote workers can stay in touch and devices can report status. What makes Skylo different: it relies on existing satellite infrastructure to keep costs lower and focuses on delivering an integrated, easy-to-use network rather than building new satellites. What’s the goal: provide affordable, reliable remote communication and safety for workers, support remote grid monitoring, and enable critical operations such as vaccine delivery.

What believers are saying

  • Vodafone IoT integration puts Skylo inside operator-managed single-SIM enterprise workflows.
  • Orange is extending Skylo-powered satellite SMS beyond emergency SOS into consumer messaging.
  • Thuraya-4 voice trials and certified modules expand Skylo's addressable device ecosystem.

What critics are saying

  • Starlink Mobile can bundle consumer and IoT satellite services with stronger brand pull.
  • Orange and Vodafone can commoditize Skylo behind operator-owned billing and customer relationships.
  • Skylo depends on partner spectrum and capacity, so any operator reprioritization hurts service quality.

What makes Skylo Technologies unique

  • Skylo is the only commercial 3GPP standards-based direct-to-device NTN provider today.
  • It connects ordinary cellular devices to existing satellites without modified SIMs or hardware.
  • Its cloud-native NTN vRAN spans sensor data, SMS, and voice across continents.

Blues and Skylo launch first satellite, cellular, and WiFi module with no satellite subscription

Blues has launched Notecard for Skylo, an industry-first module combining satellite, cellular and WiFi connectivity without requiring satellite subscriptions. The product was unveiled at Embedded World in Nuremberg on 9 March 2026 and became available on 10 March. The module automatically switches between three networks — NTN satellite powered by Skylo, narrowband cellular and WiFi — targeting mission-critical industries like transportation, logistics and energy. Traditional satellite IoT solutions require separate hardware and monthly subscriptions; Notecard for Skylo eliminates both, offering pay-as-you-go pricing. The launch follows Blues and Skylo's earlier collaboration on Starnote for Skylo. Blues, a Boston-based device-to-cloud system provider, combines plug-and-play hardware, data routing and fleet management into a single platform for connected products.

Vodafone IoT partners with Skylo to bring NTN NB-IoT satellite connectivity to customers

Vodafone IoT partners with Skylo to bring NTN NB-IoT satellite connectivity to customers. The move signals that satellite-based NB-IoT is maturing from niche deployments into operator-grade infrastructure tightly integrated with cellular cores. For IoT buyers, a single SIM and management platform across terrestrial and non-terrestrial domains reduces integration risk and lowers the barrier to truly global deployments. For vendors, 3GPP-compliant NTN NB-IoT strengthens the business case for multimode chipsets and modules, accelerating economies of scale. This partnership illustrates how hybrid NTN - cellular architectures are becoming a practical design assumption for next-generation wide-area IoT. Hybrid cellular - satellite NB-IoT trials aim to extend Vodafone IoT coverage across remote and hard-to-reach areas. Vodafone IoT has announced a new partnership with Skylo Technologies, Inc. to bring customers Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) satellite connectivity services. In the initial phase, the two companies will work together to trial the technology with a view to offering a full commercial service in the near future. Skylo runs a global Non-Terrestrial Network spanning 36 countries across 70 million square kilometres of coverage. Together, the companies will provide even greater coverage for Vodafone IoT's customers and unlock new opportunities for businesses by providing an overlay solution to existing cellular connectivity for IoT devices. This collaboration underscores customers' growing demand for seamless, scalable and secure connectivity. Skylo and Vodafone IoT's network cores will integrate - enabling customers to seamlessly switch between cellular and NTN connectivity from a single Vodafone SIM. With sectors such as asset tracking and energy services to environmental monitoring and fleet management set to benefit, this new hybrid connectivity model will supply industries with seamless multi-national connectivity. Furthermore, customers will be able to continue managing their IoT estates using Vodafone IoT's Managed Connectivity Platform - for both their cellular and NTN connectivity needs. Skylo's network orchestrates across multiple constellations of satellites, and integrates directly into existing chipsets, modules, and operating systems. Skylo has certified modules from a robust global chipset and module ecosystem - serving as the foundation for a wide range of use cases. Erik Brenneis, CEO of Vodafone IoT, said: "As we continue our mission to provide our customers with truly global IoT connectivity, today marks another significant step forwards." "Our new partnership with Skylo will help us deliver ubiquitous connectivity for our customers and make a step-change in network access, reliability and resilience which together with enable the next wave of innovative IoT solutions." Parthsarathi Trivedi, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Skylo, said: "This trial is a critical step in bringing our 3GPP-compliant satellite connectivity to Vodafone's IoT ecosystem. We are demonstrating how Skylo's network can seamlessly extend Vodafone IoT's reach into the most remote areas, adding millions of square kilometers of coverage. It's about proving that 'anywhere connectivity' is no longer a future concept - it's here, it's standards-based, and it's ready for global scale."
