Speechify has launched a native Windows app using locally stored AI models for transcription and dictation across applications. The app can read aloud articles, documents and PDFs using the company's voice library. The Windows app processes voice entirely on-device on Copilot+ PCs and Windows 11 machines with compatible GPUs from Intel and AMD. It runs three on-device models: neural text-to-speech, real-time voice activity detection using the open-source Silero model, and Whisper-powered transcription. Users can switch to cloud-based models during usage. Speechify, which has over 50 million users, is competing with dictation apps like Wispr Flow and Superwhisper. The company recently expanded beyond text-to-speech into meeting transcription and voice assistance, positioning itself as a comprehensive voice application platform.
