Mar 14, 2026 Sporting Kansas City announced on Mar. 14 that the club has signed midfielders Shane Donovan and Johann Ortiz, along with defender Pierre Lurot, to short-term agreements from Sporting KC II. All three players will be available for the team's upcoming road match against the LA Galaxy on Saturday night. The signings are significant as they provide Sporting Kansas City with additional roster options for their next Major League Soccer fixture. The agreements represent the fourth and final available short-term contract of the season for Donovan, the second for Lurot, and the first for Ortiz. Donovan, age 19, joined SKC II professionally in 2025 after progressing through the SKC Academy system. He moved from Massachusetts to Kansas City in 2021 and played at various youth levels before making his professional debut last year. In 2025, he made 27 appearances for SKC II and led the team with 45 key passes in MLS NEXT Pro. Donovan made his first appearance for Sporting KC as a substitute in last week's match against San Diego FC. Lurot, a 24-year-old defender from France, is entering his second season with SKC II after joining ahead of the 2025 campaign from the University of Michigan. He played in 27 matches during his rookie season and scored his first professional goal against North Texas SC in September 2025. Sporting Kansas City signs Angolan forward Capita Capemba from Radomiak Radom

Sporting Kansas City signs Angolan forward Capita Capemba from Radomiak Radom. Mar 13, 2026 Sporting Kansas City announced on Mar. 13 the signing of Angolan forward Capita Capemba from Polish club Radomiak Radom. The 24-year-old has agreed to a three-and-a-half-year Major League Soccer contract through the 2028-2029 season, with a club option for an additional year. His addition is pending receipt of his P1 visa and International Transfer Certificate, and he will occupy an international spot on Sporting's roster. The move brings one of Poland's top attacking players to Kansas City, as Capita scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 38 appearances for Radomiak Radom over the past two seasons. Sporting Kansas City President of Soccer Operations and General Manager David Lee said, "We are excited to welcome Capita to Kansas City. Capita is a quick, direct and dynamic winger who will add an attacking threat to the squad, while his ability to play anywhere across the frontline will be valuable for our coaching staff. He joins us in the midst of an excellent season in Poland and already has extensive experience in multiple different leagues, clubs and countries. At the age of 24, Capita is another player who is choosing to represent Sporting KC for the prime years of his career." Capita began his football development in Angola before moving to Europe in January 2020 with Portuguese side C.D. Trofense. He later played for Lille B in France, spent time on loan at Belgian club Mouscron, returned to Portugal with Estrela da Amadora, and had a loan spell at Israeli team Hapoel Jerusalem before joining Radomiak Radom ahead of the 2024-2025 season. During his time in Poland's top division, he quickly made an impact by scoring six goals and providing one assist in his first season with Radomiak Radom. In the current campaign, he matched those numbers with six goals and one assist across league and cup competitions before leaving after scoring a game-winning goal against Arka Gdynia on March 5. Internationally, Capita has earned three caps for Angola's senior national team since debuting at age 19 in 2021. He also represented Angola at youth level during the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA U-17 World Cup. Sporting Kansas City now has 23 players under contract for the upcoming season as they prepare to face LA Galaxy this Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park.
