HNI beats Q2 earnings by 22%, eyes $120M in Steelcase synergies and double-digit growth

HNI Corporation met Wall Street's revenue expectations in Q2 2026, with sales up 121% year-on-year to $1.47 billion. Non-GAAP profit of $1.27 per share beat analyst estimates by 22.4%. CEO Jeffrey Lorenger credited revenue growth to improved demand in Workplace Furnishings, particularly among small and medium-sized customers, and effective cost management. The integration of Steelcase drove profit growth, with synergies now expected to reach at least $120 million when fully mature. Orders in Workplace Furnishings increased 5% year-over-year, with recent weeks showing acceleration. Backlog ended the quarter 5% higher than the prior year. The company projects double-digit non-GAAP earnings per share growth for next year, driven by cost savings, operational efficiencies, and a robust project pipeline. Lorenger noted the company's funnel continues to expand, with bid quotes up solidly year-over-year.
