Steno differentiates itself with its combined suite of services, a dedicated remote-deposition platform, and a payment option that eases cash flow for law firms. Its goal is to streamline the deposition and trial process for legal professionals by offering accessible, technology-enabled services that replace or augment traditional court reporting agencies.

Steno, Clio and Casepoint announce new CEO or president appointments. * June 9, 2026 Court reporting and litigation support services provider Steno today (9 June) announced the appointment of Prabhdeep Singh as its new chief executive officer. Singh, who previously served as Steno's chief operating officer, succeeds co-founder Greg Hong, who will remain on LA-headquartered company's board of directors. His appointment comes in the same week that Clio announced the promotion of Ronnie Gurion to president as well as his existing COO role, and Casepoint announced that Paul Colangelo has been hired as their new CEO, in the only external hire of these three senior appointments. Singh's appointment follows a recent $49 million Series C funding round led by Savano Capital Partners and the company says that under his leadership, Steno aims to enter new markets and significantly increase its footprint within the AmLaw 200. "Over the past two years as COO, Prabhdeep has been instrumental to our growth and has taken on an increasing share of leadership across the business. He's been a phenomenal partner," said Hong. "After more than seven years of founder-led growth, I have every confidence that he is the right steward to carry Steno forward." Prior to joining Steno, Singh held leadership positions at Clover Health, WeWork, and Uber Eats. Most recently, he served as operating partner at Armory Square Ventures. His appointment follows the recent additions of Anjelica Garcia (formerly of Red Bull) as chief people officer and Jeff Herscott (formerly of Ontra) as SVP, head of sales. At Clio, Gurion has played a pivotal role in the most consequential growth phase in Clio's history, helping scale the company from US$100 million to US$500 million in annual recurring revenue, In the expanded role of president and COO, Legaltechnology is told that he will continue to oversee Clio's global operations, go-to-market strategy, customer experience, and post-acquisition integration. He will work closely with CEO and founder Jack Newton to help shape the company's strategy and represent Clio to its largest customers, partners, and the broader market as the company enters its next phase of growth. "Ronnie has been the operating force behind much of what Clio has built over the past four years," said Newton. "He brings the scale-stage experience this moment demands and has earned deep trust across our customers, our team, and our partners around the world. This promotion reflects our ambition and our confidence in the team we have built to go after it." Over the past twelve months, Clio has closed a US$500 million Series G at a US$5 billion valuation, completed its US$1 billion acquisition of vLex, and launched Clio for Enterprise. Prior to Clio, Gurion was GM and global head of Uber for Business. He previously held senior leadership roles at Orbitz, Expedia, and Airbnb. Last but not least, Casepoint, a leader in AI-powered legal, investigative, regulatory, compliance, and data discovery solutions for government agencies and enterprises, this week announced that Paul Colangelo has been selected as its new CEO. Colangelo joins Casepoint following more than 25 years leading government and enterprise software and technology software companies. Most recently, as founder and CEO of Neumo, Colangelo built a government software business that provided applications to justice, compliance, DMVs, and public administration agencies. "Organizations today face growing data volumes, increasing regulatory demands, and pressure to respond quickly and defensibly," said Colangelo. "What I hear from government agencies and regulated enterprises is frustration with fragmented systems, inefficient handoffs, and unnecessary risk. The market is moving toward unified solutions and Casepoint is well positioned for that shift, with security, defensibility, and workflow integration built into the foundation of our platform."
Steno names its current COO Prabhdeep Singh as new CEO to lead next phase of growth. Two years ago, Steno, a tech-enabled provider of legal support and court reporting services, named Prabhdeep Singh as its chief operating officer to help accelerate the company's growth. Apparently, he did a good job, because today the company announced his appointment as chief executive officer, succeeding cofounder Greg Hong, who will continue to support the [...]
Steno, a legal technology company specialising in court reporting and litigation support services, has raised $49 million in a Series C funding round led by Savano Capital Partners. First Round Capital, The Legal Tech Fund and other strategic investors participated. Founded in 2018 and based in Los Angeles, Steno will use the funding to scale operations nationwide, enhance its proprietary platform and expand within the AmLaw 200. The capital will also accelerate development of Transcript Genius, its AI-powered transcript analysis tool. The company combines technology-driven offerings with personalised service for law firms and litigators. Steno's hybrid position as both a services provider and tech company allows it to build AI capabilities within litigation workflows that software-only companies cannot replicate, according to CEO Greg Hong.
Careers Insights: Anjelica Garcia joins Steno from Red Bull. * May 19, 2026 Anjelica Garcia joined Steno in April from Red Bull and here she shares with Legal IT Insider her immediate thoughts and reflections on joining the legal technology sector; the culture and philosophies she brings with her; and what the biggest challenges are; her biggest achievement to date; and the one piece of advice she wish she had received. Anjelica welcome to legal, how would you describe your new role in Steno's leadership team? I've recently stepped into the role of chief people officer at Steno. Legaltechnology provide tech-enabled court reporting and litigation support services, but at its core, Legaltechnology is a people-driven business. I'm overseeing its talent strategy and helping shape its culture. I want to ensure that the same reliability and care Legaltechnology provide to its legal clients are baked into the way Legaltechnology treat its own team as Legaltechnology scale up. What made you switch from Red Bull and the sports and entertainment world to legal technology? On the surface, moving from Red Bull to legal technology looks like a significant shift. For me, the throughline is clear: Legaltechnology is building premium brands in dynamic industries. Over the past decade, sports and media have been transformed, especially in content creation, distribution, and consumption. Organisations had to rapidly adapt to change while upholding a strong identity and high standards. The true leaders in this new landscape didn't just keep up, they set the benchmark for excellence. Similarly, legal technology is experiencing its own transformation. There are clear changes in how legal work is getting done, alongside rising expectations around speed and quality. What philosophies around culture and building winning teams will you bring with you? Culture is built on the experiences people have every day at work. It is reflected in the behaviours that are rewarded, the implicit norms, and where attention is placed. The most effective organisations create environments where people find meaning in their work and feel a sense of belonging within their teams. They also foster ownership and clear pathways to building excellence in one's craft and career. That can happen organically in smaller environments. However, as organisations grow, it becomes more difficult. At that stage, it requires deliberate design, clarity in goals, strong manager capability, consistent feedback loops, and systems that reinforce both performance and development. Truly high-performing teams are not just effective, they are aligned and resilient. My goal is to build an environment where both individuals and teams achieve this consistently. Is there any crossover in terms of skills for a chief people officer in both sectors? The core of the chief people officer role is consistent regardless of industry. It's about building the approach, practices, and systems that allow a company to translate strategy into execution through its people. That includes organisational design, leadership development, performance management, and ensuring that incentives and ways of working are aligned with business priorities. Whether the context is consumer products, media, or legal technology, those fundamentals don't change. What does change is the operating environment - pace, regulatory considerations, and talent markets. The underlying discipline remains the same: understanding what the business needs, building the right structure and leadership capability, and evolving both as the company grows. What are the biggest challenges to making the switch into the legal world? I would say the main challenge (and my current priority) is getting a deep understanding of the industry - its structure, stakeholders, and the nuances that shape how work gets done. Legal services have their own rhythms, regulatory considerations, and long-standing ways of operating that are distinct from other sectors. But I see that as a learning curve rather than a barrier. In fact, the advantage of coming from outside the industry is the ability to see patterns more objectively and to consider how principles around effective teams and high-performing organisations might apply in this context. My focus so far has been on listening and learning. That is where I would start in any new role. I am spending time with people across the legal ecosystem to better understand how the work really happens, Steno's strengths as an employer and partner, and where its opportunities lie. How did your career to date prepare you for your current role? My career has largely been shaped in high-growth environments where organisations needed to evolve to keep pace with the industry and their ambitions. Early on, I focused on building the foundational systems - talent management, analytics, and organizational design - that help to create clarity and consistency as a company scales. As my career progressed, I applied those same principles in even more complex environments, supporting significant expansion across multiple lines of business and operating models. Throughout my experience, linking performance and people through practical systems and leadership is a constant theme. That will remain at the heart of its talent and culture strategy at Steno. What has been your biggest achievement in your career so far? I tend not to think about any of my achievements as singular, visible milestones. A significant portion of its lives is spent at work, and what I've valued most in my career is the role I've been able to play in shaping how people feel during that time. The impact often shows up in tangible, but 'small' ways - helping a leader become more effective, building systems that improve how teams operate, expanding access to benefits that support employees and their families, or creating opportunities for individuals to grow into roles they might not have otherwise had access to. These everyday moments, though rarely visible, build strong organisations and help to move a business forward. Their lasting impact on individuals and families is what I find truly meaningful and is my greatest achievement. Looking back, what piece of advice do you wish you had received earlier in your career? I'm a big believer in intentionally building a personal advisory board, and I'd encourage everyone to do it earlier in their careers. It doesn't need to be a formal structure, but a group of people you trust to help you navigate different aspects of your life and career as you move through it. The pace of change in the working world is significant, and when you layer in different stages of life and career, it becomes difficult for any one person, whether a manager or a mentor, to be the right sounding board for everything. Having a small group of trusted voices who understand your context and can offer a clear, direct perspective is incredibly valuable. It improves decision-making over time and gives you a level of perspective hard to build on your own. Tell Legaltechnology something people don't already know about Steno's team? Legaltechnology has dozens of lawyers across the company, in places you wouldn't expect, like sales and marketing. Even its new SVP and head of sales, Jeff Herscott, who joined at the same time as me, comes from a BigLaw background. I always joke that Legaltechnology has enough legal talent here that Legaltechnology could go off and start its own firm. Its thanks to Anjelica for sharing her thoughts and experiences, if you would like to be its next Career Insights guest, message [email protected]
Steno raises $49M Series C for AI court reporting. March 26, 2026 at 6:08 PM - by MLQ Agent Key points. * Steno secured $49 million in Series C funding led by Savano Capital Partners, with participation from First Round Capital, The Legal Tech Fund and others1234. * Funds will support geographic expansion and development of next-generation AI tools, including Transcript Genius for transcript analysis125. * Steno combines tech-enabled court reporting with AI to improve litigation workflows, founded in 2018 by Greg Hong and others345. * Transcript Genius, launched in May 2024 with $46M funding, enables customizable Q&A, inconsistency detection and in-depth testimony analysis25. Steno, a tech-enabled provider of court reporting and litigation support services, announced a $49 million Series C funding round on March 26, 2026. The investment, led by Savano Capital Partners, aims to accelerate geographic growth and advance AI tools like Transcript Genius1234. Funding details and investors. Savano Capital Partners led the $49 million Series C round, with participation from First Round Capital, The Legal Tech Fund and additional investors. CEO Greg Hong highlighted Steno's hybrid model of human services and technology to enhance AI capabilities in litigation. The company, based in Los Angeles and founded in 2018 by Hong, Dylan Ruga and Dan Anderson, has now raised over $100 million across multiple rounds since 2020, including a $46 million raise in May 2024 123 457. Transcript Genius AI tool. Transcript Genius, launched in May 2024, is a generative AI tool for transcript analysis that allows attorneys to interact dynamically with case transcripts. Features include customizable question-and-answer functions, instant identification of inconsistencies, in-depth testimony analysis with page and line references, and seamless workflow integration. The tool reduces hours of review to minutes by providing targeted insights for trial preparation and negotiations 25. Use of proceeds. Steno plans to triple efforts in geographic expansion and research and development for next-generation AI tools. The funding builds on prior investments used to launch and enhance Transcript Genius, focusing on overcoming technological and financial hurdles in legal case preparation 123. Hybrid model advantages. Steno's $49 million raise underscores the growing investor interest in AI applications for legal services, particularly in court reporting where traditional stenography faces workforce shortages. The company's hybrid approach addresses criticisms from groups like the National Court Reporters Association, which has voiced concerns over AI and digital reporting displacing stenographer jobs 1. By investing in tools like Transcript Genius, Steno positions itself to capture market share in a sector slow to adopt technology, offering efficiency gains such as rapid inconsistency detection that manual review cannot match 5 . This funding round reflects a maturing legal tech landscape, where prior raises totaling over $38 million since 2020 have enabled product development without fully replacing human reporters 7. Steno's emphasis on augmentation rather than full automation differentiates it from pure digital reporting competitors, potentially easing regulatory and professional resistance while scaling operations nationwide. Geographic AI scaling. Steno's expansion plans could lead to broader adoption of AI-driven transcript analysis across U.S. law firms, with enhanced Transcript Genius features expected to integrate more deeply into litigation platforms. Geographic tripling suggests entry into new markets beyond Los Angeles, targeting high-volume legal hubs and increasing competition with established court reporting agencies 12 . Future developments may include beta program expansions and further AI refinements, building on the May 2024 launch. As litigation volumes rise with complex cases, demand for tools that streamline transcript review could drive Steno's revenue growth, though pushback from stenography advocates may influence adoption rates 15 . Investors like Savano Capital signal confidence in scalable legal AI, potentially paving the way for Steno's next funding phase or acquisition interest by larger legal tech players. Further sources.
