TDK Corporation has launched the TDK SensEI edgeRX Pro, a high-performance sensor node that expands its predictive maintenance platform. The device integrates vibration, acoustic, magnetic, temperature, and rotational motion sensing with a 6-axis IMU and edge AI processing in an IP67-rated enclosure. The edgeRX Pro supports both battery operation, offering up to 10 years of battery life, and USB wired power for flexible deployment. It features enhanced capabilities including higher sampling frequencies and expanded sensing inputs such as a digital microphone and magnetometer. The sensor targets applications in manufacturing, energy and utilities, HVAC, and warehousing. It enables compressed air leak detection, acoustic anomaly detection, and rotational analysis for industrial environments. Tokyo-based TDK reported total sales of $16.6 billion in fiscal 2026.
TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) announced today that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fabric8Labs, Inc. for up to 400 million USD in cash, comprising of an upfront payment and a multi-year earnout. Fabric8Labs is a pioneer manufacturing company with a proprietary and advanced metal 3D printing technology, Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM). Upon closing, Fabric8Labs would become a wholly owned subsidiary of TDK. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory clearances.
Japanese electronics giant TDK Corporation has announced a $400 million acquisition of Fabric8Labs, a US-based additive manufacturing startup founded in 2015. The deal marks TDK's strategic entry into data centre cooling and advanced manufacturing sectors. Fabric8Labs has developed a proprietary non-thermal metal 3D printing process that eliminates expensive metal powders and energy-intensive methods whilst achieving micron-level precision. The technology uses recyclable feedstocks and supports sustainability goals through reduced energy consumption. The startup focuses on copper applications for semiconductor cooling, chip-scale fabrication and 5G components, with expansion into automotive, medical and industrial sectors. TDK Ventures previously invested in Fabric8Labs' $19.3 million Series A round alongside Intel Capital, Lam Capital and Schneider Ventures. The acquisition aligns with TDK's focus on digital transformation and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
