TRedoxBlox builds a modular thermochemical energy storage (TCES) system that stores energy at very high temperatures using chemical and sensible-heat storage. Energy is held inside each unit and released on demand to provide high-temperature heat for industry or electricity for the grid. Unlike solutions that focus only on industrial heat or electrical storage, the system combines high-temperature storage with scalable modules for both decarbonizing fossil-fuel heat and enabling long-duration grid storage. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions in heavy industry while offering reliable, grid-stabilizing storage, supported by funding to scale production and adoption.

Tempo, a thermochemical energy storage startup, has announced a new 35,000-square-foot headquarters in San Diego's Sorrento Mesa corridor. The facility will support materials development, engineering, prototype assembly and system testing as the company scales its industrial electrification solutions. Tempo develops storage systems that enable industrial operators to electrify high-temperature processes traditionally powered by fossil fuels. The platform delivers combustion-free air at temperatures up to 1,200°C with a lower levelised cost of storage than lithium iron phosphate systems. The company claims its technology provides continuous heat delivery with precision temperature control from 100°C to 1,200°C. Tempo is backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Khosla Ventures and Prelude Ventures. The company plans to announce gigawatt-scale production partnerships later this year.
In addition to the Series A funding, Redoxblox in January received grants of $8.9 million from the California Energy Commission and $6.7 million from the U.S. Department of Energy to support two demonstration projects, the company said.
Further in the Wednesday statement, Redoxblox announced the appointment of Pasquale Romano as the new CEO of the company to lead it through its next phase of growth, expanding into key industrial heat and long-duration grid-scale storage markets.
SAN DIEGO, Oct. 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Redoxblox raised an additional $30M in Series A funding, led by Prelude Ventures and joined by Imperative Ventures and New System Ventures, alongside existing investors Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Khosla Ventures.
Finn raised a €100 million Series C led by Planet First Partners. The round values the Munich-based car subscription startup at over $600 million. D-Orbit secured €100 million in the first close of...
