In this signing ceremony, ATLAS and Electra celebrate a landmark agreement that positions ATLAS as a key manufacturing partner for the EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft. This collaboration brings together Electra's revolutionary aircraft technology and ATLAS' proven expertise in aerospace manufacturing, marking an important step toward flight testing, certification, and eventual commercial production. The event reflects a shared commitment to transforming innovative ideas into scalable aerospace solutions and advancing a new era of regional air mobility.
Electra and The Atlas Group announced an airframe manufacturing agreement for Electra's EL9 Ultra Short hybrid-electric aircraft. Atlas will manufacture and assemble airframes for Electra's flight test and certification programme, with work beginning this month and first deliveries expected in 2027. The EL9 is a nine-passenger hybrid-electric aircraft designed to take off and land in as little as 150 feet, enabling operations from smaller locations closer to populated areas. The partnership draws on Atlas's aerospace manufacturing expertise to help scale production after certification. Electra is building its first EL9 production facility in Springfield, Ohio, with a planned $850 million investment creating nearly 2,000 jobs. The company has secured over 2,200 provisional aircraft orders from more than 60 operators worldwide. The EL9 targets entry into commercial service in 2030.
