Overview
MRN is a nonprofit research organization that advances understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness and brain injury. It connects scientists worldwide to study brain function using neuroimaging like MRI and MEG. It develops and applies imaging methods within a collaborative research network rather than selling products. Its goal is to expand brain science knowledge to improve mental health care.

Simplify's Take
What believers are saying
- 2026 publications on CO2-driven protein clearance raise MRN's scientific profile.
- ABQTREAT and alcohol-stimulation trials keep its pipeline active and recruitable.
- Broad current research page shows continuing activity across development, aging, and psychiatry.
What critics are saying
- NIH and grant-funded research concentration creates renewal risk in 2026-2027.
- Dependent on UNM and Lovelace partnerships, so any sponsor breakup hurts operations.
- If hypercapnia and tACS programs fail clinically, MRN loses translational credibility.
What makes The Mind Research Network unique
- MRN pairs UNM clinicians with Lovelace Biomedical for translational brain research.
- Its niche spans imaging, neuropsychiatry, aging, and substance-use interventions.
- 2026 hypercapnia studies showcase rare expertise in glymphatic and cerebrovascular physiology.
