3 companies could invest a combined $96 million in Spartanburg County. Here's who they are.

3 companies could invest a combined $96 million in Spartanburg County. Here's who they are. * by max white [email protected] * 15 hrs ago. SPARTANBURG - More private investment could soon flood into Spartanburg County. At a meeting on Oct. 20, county council pushed forward tax breaks for Tindall Corp., Dave Steel and Primis Property II for projects that could combine to invest around $96 million in the county. Details about the projects are sparse. Council members did not provide any additional information outside the meeting's agenda packet about any of the three projects at the meeting. The county's spokesperson was also light on specifics. The tax break - called a fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement, or FILOT - for Primis Property II received final third reading approval. Its agreement outlines that the company is expected to invest $20 million at 785 Victor Hill Road in Greer. Its assessment ratio will drop from 10.5 percent to 6 percent for 30 years. Spartanburg County Communications Manager Scottie Kay Blackwell said the tax break is for a building that could attract a manufacturing tenant and that it will bring "additional Class A industrial space" to the county. Council members approved a second reading for tax breaks for Tindall and Dave Steel, separately. Both still require a final third reading. The tax agreement for Tindall specifies that the company is expected to invest nearly $50 million and create 30 jobs at 107 Diamond Lane in Spartanburg, but is only required to invest just under $40 million. It would lower the project's assessment ratio to 6 percent for 30 years. Tindall was founded in the 1960s and specializes in delivering precast concrete solutions. Dave Steel is projected to invest $26 million and create 70 jobs, but is only required to invest almost $21 million. The FILOT would also lower the project's assessment ratio to 6 percent for 30 years. No location is specified. The company is focused on delivering fabricated structural steel. Blackwell did not provide additional information about the two projects beyond what was available in the meeting agenda. She said it was because they had not yet received final county approval and "out of respect for the companies' decision-making process." "I'm afraid additional details cannot be shared just yet beyond the information that is contained in the agenda packet," Blackwell told The Post and Courier in an email. She said county council pushing forward the tax breaks "represents another important step in the process as these companies consider growing in Spartanburg County." "While details beyond those contained in the County Council agenda packet can't be shared at this stage, we're encouraged by their interest and remain optimistic the companies will ultimately choose Spartanburg County as the ideal location for their expansion," Blackwell said.
