Topgolf uses high-tech driving ranges that blend golf with social entertainment. Players hit microchipped balls into targets to score points based on distance and accuracy, playing in bays that are charged by time. Venues combine sport with dining, drinks, and event spaces to create a social experience for families, friends, corporate groups, and golf enthusiasts. Compared with traditional golf or purely entertainment venues, Topgolf differentiates itself by integrating technology, a social atmosphere, and variety of revenue streams (venue time, food and beverage, events, and merchandise) into one experiential offering. The company’s goal is to grow its footprint by delivering scalable, engaging entertainment experiences that mix sport, technology, and hospitality across more locations both in the U.S. and internationally.

Topgolf appoints David McKillips CEO. The executive previously served in the same position at Chuck E. Cheese Alicia Kelso, Executive Editor, Nation's Restaurant News February 19, 2026 David McKillips has been named chief executive officer of Topgolf International, effective Feb. 23. He is tasked with overseeing the eatertainment chain's strategic vision and growth. McKillips has more than 30 years of experience in family entertainment, media, and theme park industries. He most recently served as president and CEO of CEC Entertainment, parent company of Chuck E. Cheese and Peter Piper Pizza. There, he led the company through global expansion and modernization efforts bolstered by a $350 million strategic investment. He also guided the organization through financial restructuring following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2020. "Topgolf is a brand I've long admired; one that brings people together through unforgettable shared experiences no matter their level of interest in the game of golf," McKillips said in a statement. "I'm honored to lead such a talented team that has and continues to expand the player experience through unrivaled hospitality and innovative sports technology." Prior to CEC Entertainment, he served in several leadership roles at Six Flags Entertainment that spanned operations, food and beverage, retail, games, and procurement. McKillips managed operations for theme parks in Canada and Mexico, led the development of new parks globally, founded the company's sponsorship sales and activation division, and launched the Six Flags TV Network. He joins Topgolf about four months after a majority stake of the concept was sold to private equity firm Leonard Green for approximately $1.1 billion. Topgolf Callaway Brands, which acquired Topgolf in 2021 for $2.6 billion, has retained a 40% stake. Topgolf has had a challenging few quarters as consumers pull back on their discretionary spending. Same-venue sales declined by double digits throughout much of 2025, and previous CEO Artie Starrs announced his resignation in August. Still, it has continued to grow and now includes more than 100 entertainment venues. In January, Topgolf opened its 15th venue in its home state of Texas. Callaway Golf is selling 60% of its stake in Topgolf to private equity at a discounted valuation after facing challenges for nearly five years. Following the sale, the company will revert to its original name, Callaway Golf Company, and change its stock ticker symbol to "CALY." This move comes after the company had rebranded to Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp. in September 2022, following a merger with Topgolf in March 2021. The sale and rebranding reflect a strategic shift for Callaway.
Topgolf to open first venue in Wisconsin. Topgolf is building a two-level venue in Monona, WI, eight miles east of Madison. The company's first location in the state is set to open in Fall 2026. Topgolf and Patrón raise the bar with new exclusive tequila blend. On October 1 at all U.S. venues, Topgolf has partnered with Patrón Tequila to debut Topgolf Blend Patrón Reposado, a one-of-a-kind tequila crafted exclusively for the brand. To mark the occasion, Topgolf is unveiling the Patrón No. 20 Margarita, a signature sip that blends playful spirit with premium flavor. The drink's name nods to The Sure Thing Club, designed with a 20-degree loft to help the ball fly higher. Just as Topgolf created the perfect club, now it has created the perfect margarita. Guests can enjoy it as a standalone cocktail, order it as part of the new Margarita Flight: The Three 'Ritas (featuring the Sunset Marg, The Coco Melon and Patrón No. 20) or simply sip the tequila neat or take it as a shot. About the Blend * Crafted in collaboration with Patrón's master distiller. * Aged nearly nine months in American Oak and whiskey barrels. * Tasting notes include cooked agave, citrus, light herbal, black pepper, vanilla, caramel and a touch of tobacco. As Topgolf's number one selling tequila, Patrón was the natural choice for this exclusive blend. Earlier this year, a group of Topgolf operators visited Jalisco, Mexico to experience Patrón's distilling process firsthand and select the final variation, which is now available only at Topgolf venues nationwide.
