US stock futures rise as July CPI meets expectations at 3.4% annual increase

The US Department of Labor reported the consumer price index rose 0.1% in July, matching the Zacks Consensus Estimate, whilst the annual headline CPI increased 3.4%, down from 3.5% in June. Core CPI, excluding food and energy, rose 0.2% monthly and 2.5% annually, both in line with estimates. The benign inflation data may influence the Federal Reserve to maintain current interest rates at its September meeting. Officials will review both July and August figures before deciding. In corporate earnings, Amcor reported adjusted quarterly earnings of $1.23 per share, beating estimates, with revenues of $6.4 billion. Trimble posted $0.86 per share, exceeding the $0.80 estimate. Trimble Inc. (NASDAQ: TRMB) stock analysis: software shift and market outlook.

Trimble Inc. (NASDAQ: TRMB) stock analysis: software shift and market outlook. Aug 04, 2026 Market News FMPTrimble Inc. (NASDAQ: TRMB) stock analysis: software shift and market outlook. * Trimble Inc. is strategically shifting towards a software-driven business model to generate more predictable, recurring revenue. * Despite a recent stock downturn and declining average analyst price targets, some Wall Street analysts project a significant 54% surge, citing strong Q1 organic revenue and Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) growth. * The company's valuation is considered attractive compared to competitors, trading at a low-teens forward earnings multiple, which supports a positive long-term outlook. Trimble Inc. (NASDAQ: TRMB) is a global technology company that provides solutions to improve work in various industries. Its business is divided into segments including Buildings and Infrastructure, Geospatial, Resources and Utilities, and Transportation. Trimble Inc. is currently shifting its focus toward a software-driven business model to generate more predictable, recurring revenue from subscriptions. The average analyst price target for Trimble Inc. has declined over the last year, moving from $90.89 to $61.00 last month. This trend suggests a more cautious view from some analysts. In contrast, the mean price target from Wall Street analysts indicates a potential 54% surge in the stock. Piper Sandler analyst Weston Twigg, for instance, sets a price target of $100.00. This optimism is partly due to the company's strategic shift. Recent first-quarter results show a 12% growth in organic revenue. The company's Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), which measures predictable income from subscriptions, also grew by 13%. These figures suggest the transition to a software-focused model is gaining traction and delivering strong financial results. Despite this, the stock price has seen a recent downturn. As highlighted by Zacks.com, the stock's 20.4% drop over four weeks has pushed it into what is technically called "oversold" territory. This term suggests that heavy selling may be exhausted, potentially leading to a price recovery. When compared to competitors like Bentley and PTC, some analysts view Trimble Inc.'s valuation as attractive. The stock trades at a low-teens forward earnings multiple, a metric used to value a company's stock price relative to its future earnings. This valuation, combined with growing recurring revenue, supports a positive outlook from some market observers.
