Trove launches Pack Battles to bring friendly rivalries and bragging rights to collecting. Sep 16, 2026, 12:30 ET New Multi-Player Mode lets Friends Challenge Each Other, Reveal Real Cards, and Relive the Thrill of Collecting Together. NEW YORK, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Trove, a collectibles app built to reconnect people with the feeling of collecting as a kid, has introduced Pack Battles, an industry-first multiplayer mode that transforms pack ripping into a head-to-head competition between friends, and other collectors on Trove. Opening packs with friends has always been about sharing the excitement of the reveal and seeing who pulled the best card. Pack Battles brings that familiar excitement and friendly rivalry to Trove. Each participant opens a Trove pack containing a digitized version of a real, authenticated card held securely in the PSA Vault. Upon reveal, the collector who pulls the more valuable card wins both. If the cards have equal value, each person keeps the card they pulled. "When we were kids, opening packs with friends was an event. You showed off your best cards, cheered on your friends, and made up games where bragging rights meant everything," said Michael Katz, co-founder and CEO of Trove. "That's the feeling we wanted to bring back with Pack Battles." Pack Battles is available now in Trove's iOS app, with web availability coming soon. Collectors can challenge friends directly or face a randomly matched opponent, watch battles across the app, and compete for leaderboard standings and TroveCash rewards. And when a friend gets a little too comfortable celebrating, there's always a rematch. Trove launches Collection Dividends, an industry-first reward for Collectors. Sep 03, 2026, 15:08 ET Digital Collectibles Platform Expands Its Loyalty Program with Additional Rewards for Collectors NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Trove, a digital collectibles app built to reconnect people with the feeling of collecting as a kid, has introduced Collection Dividends, a first of its kind feature that rewards collectors for building collections on Trove. With Collection Dividends, collectors will earn a minimum of 2% annually on the value of their collection, calculated and paid monthly in Trove Cash. Available to all Trove collectors, without having to stake their assets, lock up or turn over ownership, the benefit is designed to recognize collections as assets with value beyond the initial transaction, and is a first of its kind benefit not currently available on any other major collectibles platform. While the industry has both innovated and celebrated the transaction, Trove is committed to delivering the same joy across the entire collector experience. Three pillars that make up Trove's commitment to the collector experience: Curating the most desirable cards; 100% and forever buyback options to always provide liquidity to the collector; and now, programs that reward the collector for building long term value on Trove. "The collectibles industry has spent a tremendous amount of energy making the purchase experience more exciting, but has completely ignored the collector experience," said Michael Katz, co-founder and CEO of Trove. "While everyone claims to be for collectors by collectors, none of their investments actually deliver on that. This is just one more step in our commitment to deliver more value to collectors." Building for Collectors, Not Just Transactions Founded in 2025, Trove combines the thrill of opening digital packs with ownership of real, authenticated cards across major sports, Pokémon and One Piece, securely stored in the PSA Vault. After purchasing a pack on Trove, collectors can choose to build a collection on Trove, have the physical cards shipped directly to them, or immediately sell back to Trove for 100% of fair market value. Trove is also built around transparency and trust, with transparent outcomes, PSA verified inventory, provable fairness that allows collectors to verify outcomes, and flexible sellback options. Collection Dividends is the latest step in Trove's broader vision to build new value and utility around collectible ownership while continually reinvesting in the collector experience. The founding team is made up of lifelong collectors and bring more than two decades of experience building technology companies at the intersection of data, consumer behavior and emerging technology. The BIG Show Season 2 with Jude Ower: Turning the narrative of games being bad to games being good Watch More The New-York-based company launched its digital platform for buying, opening, and trading authenticated trading cards in April. Since then, the platform has experienced "explosive" user growth, according to co-founder and chief executive officer Michael Katz in an interview with GamesBeat. Katz said Trove has seen "triple-digit user growth month-over-month" in recent months, although he declined to share specific figures. Last month, Trove launched Collection Dividends, a new feature offering members of the platform a two-percent monthly dividend based on the total value of their digital collection in Trove's vault, which Katz said contains an overall value of roughly $10 million, with an $85,000 Kobe Bryant card as the single most valuable item in the vault. That means Trove is paying out $200,000 to collectors on its platform every month, with the owner of the Kobe Bryant card potentially pocketing a monthly dividend of $1,700 for that item alone. Trove works with the third-party price tracking platform Card Ladder to set and adjust the prices of collectibles in its ecosystem. "The bet that we're making is that, by providing more value to the end user than the competition, that they're going to choose Trove over one of the other guys," Katz said. "But if it was just about that, and it didn't really align with our core values around building trust and exceeding consumer expectations, I'm not sure that we would have definitely done it. We have taken into account the brand considerations, vis-a-vis delivering sustainable value to the consumer." Trove is part of a rising tide of companies that have arisen to take advantage of consumers' growing interest in digital collectibles and virtual pack openings, alongside competitors such as Courtyard or CardVault. Unlike the NFT craze of past years, digital collectibles are tied to physical items stored in a central location administered by the trading platform, with users able to cash out on the value of their items or request the physical items via mail. While many of these companies look to emulate different aspects of the physical collecting experience, Trove's Collection Dividends takes a different tack by offering a feature that is only possible with digital collectibles. "Digitizing real-world assets was never about creating a substitute. It was about creating a complement, and using that complement to change distribution mechanics," Katz said. "There's a number of things that you can do when you combine the digital and the physical that you can't do when it's only digital or when it's only physical. For us, the way that we think about it is we want to create the best of both worlds." So far, Trove has raised about $10 million from a mix of venture firms and celebrity investors, per Katz, who said an official fundraising announcement is forthcoming. He said the company, which currently employs 11 full-time staff, has been profitable from day one, with plans to grow further in the coming year in areas like engineering and operations. So far, the platform's growth has largely been organic, fueled in part by Trove's sponsorship deals with organizations like the Chicago Cubs. In the coming year, the company plans to ramp up its marketing and user acquisition spend, too. "You won't see us dumping a bunch of money into ads, screaming at you to buy a ton from us and making promises that we can't deliver on," Katz said. "It's going to be more about how to create meaningful and sustainable value for our customer base."
