VELUX & LOTS Group launch electrification project.

VELUX & LOTS Group launch electrification project. May 26, 2026 at 6:29 AM The VELUX Group, a Danish manufacturer of roof windows, and the LOTS Group, a subsidiary of the Swedish truck manufacturer Scania, have launched a collaboration to advance the electrification of logistics in VELUX's European transport network. The aim of the project is to develop a scalable model for the operation of battery electric vehicles (BEV) along a 1,250 km circular route, which is considered one of the longest BEV corridors in Europe. Pilot phase to evaluate feasibility. The collaboration began with a pilot phase at the beginning of 2026, aimed at assessing the operational and financial feasibility of BEV in selected transport flows. The LOTS Group utilizes an AI-driven logistics platform called Pathfinder to analyze routes, charging infrastructure, transport data, and operational constraints. Through scenario modeling and data analysis, the partners can evaluate various electrification strategies, reduce implementation risks, and develop practical plans for deployment. Søren Back Pedersen, Senior Director of Market Logistics and Procurement at VELUX, emphasizes the need to make transitions to low-emission transport both ambitious and practical. He states, "By combining the planning capabilities of LOTS Group with our own transport flows, we can assess how electric trucks can be integrated into our network while maintaining the required reliability and flexibility." Integration of AI and data analysis. Max Blatt, Managing Director of the LOTS Group, highlights that the initial pilot phase has allowed for the analysis of real logistics flows and evaluation of how electrification can work in practice. Based on these insights, the project is now being expanded to explore how AI-driven logistics planning, data, and electrified transport can help VELUX reduce emissions across the network. Nadia Møllebjerg, Senior Program Manager for Logistics and Sustainability at VELUX, points out that reducing emissions in the transport sector is a central component of the company's climate strategy. She explains, "By collaborating with LOTS Group, we can leverage real logistics data to better understand where electrification can create value and how it can be implemented to support both our sustainability goals and our operational performance." The VELUX Group pursues ambitious climate goals and actively seeks solutions for emission reduction across the entire value chain. With the collaboration with LOTS Group, the company aims to combine AI-driven logistics with electrified transport solutions to promote the long-term decarbonization of its European logistics activities. The partners aim to develop a scalable approach to the electrification of long-distance logistics by combining agent-based planning, operational data, and access to electric transport capacity, demonstrating how the transition to emission-free freight transport is already possible today.

Velux partners with Habitat for Humanity to expand Living Places concept

Velux partners with Habitat for Humanity to expand Living Places concept. February 27, 2026 | 10:45 am CST FORT MILL, S.C. - Velux, a global leader in skylights and daylight solutions, has expanded its Living Places concept to the United States by partnering with the Habitat for Humanity of York County, which will build multiple homes that prove healthy, energy-efficient, high-quality housing can also be sustainable and affordable. The initiative lays the foundation for a scalable model that Velux aims to create a ripple effect nationwide. During the first initiative in York County, the first U.S. Living Places-inspired builds will be completed on Lige Street in Rock Hill, with three to five Habitat for Humanity homes that each prioritize sustainability and affordability. "At Habitat for Humanity of York County, we believe everyone deserves a decent place to live, and that includes homes that are healthy, efficient, and built for the future," said Tim Veeck, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity of York County. "This partnership with Velux allows us to learn from proven international models while setting a new standard for sustainable, affordable homeownership in the United States." "We're proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity of York County through our Living Places initiative to advance affordable, healthy, and sustainable housing," said Stephan Moyon, president of Velux America/Velux Canada. "Together, we're developing a model that recognizes that true affordability includes both construction and ongoing utility costs. This partnership demonstrates that features like skylights can play a meaningful role in even the most cost-effective housing, helping ensure everyone has access to better living." The Velux Living Places initiative was developed by the Velux Group, EFFEKT architects, and Artelia engineers to create sustainable, healthy, and affordable housing. Launched in 2023 in Copenhagen, the initiative challenges the building industry by demonstrating that low-carbon, high-quality homes can be built today using existing technology. It draws on five core principles for residential construction: healthy, shared, simple, adaptive and scalable. The U.S. expansion comes at a time when the country faces significant challenges in the built environment, including rising home prices, high regulatory costs, and a growing shortage of affordable options. "The collaboration with Habitat for Humanity of York County represents an important step toward rethinking how American homes can be built for both people and planet. At Velux, we believe that healthier, more efficient buildings are essential to improving quality of life. With our Living Places building principles, we want to demonstrate that better homes can be built today using existing technologies and widely available materials," said Moyon.
