Hunter Biden has begun using UK startup Verisart to certify nearly 100 of his artworks on the blockchain and is now accepting Bitcoin payments. The former US president's son, who has pursued painting in recent years, is using the platform to create digital certificates recording provenance and ownership. Verisart founder Robert Norton said Biden simply signed up like any other artist, with no direct partnership. Norton suggested Biden may have been drawn to the service due to impersonation and fake social media accounts. The company provides blockchain-based certificates of authenticity for artworks and collectables, processing almost 300,000 certificates since launching a decade ago. Biden's art sales have slowed recently, with court filings in March 2025 disclosing "significant debt in the millions".
For Gazelli Art House, which has partnered with tech partner Verisart for the exhibition, it marks a shift towards a greater understanding, and appreciation of, digital art.
